  1. CSM. Hollis and I are on turn 6 and, as you can imagine, it's largely been all quiet. The 4 flags (3 small one large) are scattered across a heavily damamged (read flattened) village overlooked by a few hills, which I think gives a fairly balanced battelfield. Contact has been restricted to a few desultry shots across the bows which I hope have put the willies up the enemy (and I'm not talking jeeps). Will keep you updated.
  2. Good show, I'll look forward to the game and send a setup on Wednesday (if this is confirmed). Thanks to Mr. Byte for standing in. Congratulations to CSM Hollis! I'll be passing the benzedrine out If it's OK with you, I would like to be in on the CMAK tournament.
  3. Aaaahhh, a chance at Victory. He who waits, wins - doh!
  4. Hello, yes, I'm still waiting. I've just got back into CMBB (sort off) after a long time awaywith RL issues. Any news on the developmwent of the tourney?
  5. I am incredibly out of touch, can I look forward to a game soon? Seriously, how are the matches shaping up, anyone nearly finished?
  6. Hanson, surprise him with your waterlogged 'friend'.
  7. Goodshow, I'll be interested to see how it plays out.
  8. It's a good 'un, buy it whilst it's still hot!
  9. Fantastic, you're a star. I'm very grateful. This website reaffirms my faith in human nature
  10. Thanks for that c3k . I've consulted with Karl Bahm ('Berlin: The Final Reckoning') and he puts the composition 125th Rifle Corps as 60th, 76th amd 175th Rifle Divisions, but gives no further break down thereafter. I'm after Regiment and Battalion numbers with any other details (like COs, etc.) being a bonus, so your information is very useful - thanks. Any more anyone else has to offer would be most welcome.
  11. Hello chaps. I'm having real problems finding out about the composition of the Soviet 47th Army in April 1945. In particular, I'm interested in identifing to which Corps the 76th and 60th Rifle Divisions were attached and obtaining a detailed OOB. A search of the WWW hasn't really yielded anything and, sadly, my own little library just hasn't got the material I need. Could anybody help? Also, as an aside, I don't suppose any body knows which SS unit was fighting in and around Spandau in April 1945? I have an inkling it might be 11 SS Motorised, but I'm really shooting in the dark here. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
  12. That would be marvellous, I'll look forward to your comments
  13. I've just downloaded it and will play it against an old friend of mine
  14. Thanks gentlemen, you're both very kind. File has been sent, let me know what you think.
  15. That's very kind of you. I'll send you the file, thanks.
  16. Just seeking some clarification on upgrading to 1.03. NictT and I will finish our second round game in 1.02, but I wondered what we thought about upgrading for the third round?
  17. Anyone have any information or maps on or of Metgethen west of Konigsburg in Eastern Silesia? I'd be awfully grateful for any advice. [ June 04, 2003, 06:03 PM: Message edited by: Dr. Juzzy ]
  18. I've recently completed a small byte batte for CMBB and I wondered whether any of you kind gentleman would be willing to playtest it for me? I've got a fellow or two over a der Kessel casting an eye over it, but you can never have enough feedback . If you're still interested after reading the brief, please get in touch through my email addy above. Many thanks. Justin (Maus). Title: A War within the War. Type: Axis Attack. Date: June, 1943. Location: Bil'tsova (fictional), Byelorussia. Region: Centre. Weather: Clear and warm. Terrain: Village and farmland. Wind: SSW. Turns: 30+ Background. The development of a coherent theory for partisan warfare had largely been discounted by Soviet pre-war planners, despite the accumulation of a considerable volume of experience during the Russian Civil War. By October-November 1941, the large territorial loses suffered by the Soviet Union required Sovnarkom and the Central Committee to rethink this strategy, issuing 2 directives covering the organisation and activity of partisan detachments (otrydi) as early as 29 June and the 18 July, 1941. The achievements of the partisan movement (partizanshchina) were mixed and varied accordining to region. In the republic of Byelorussia, the partizanshchina was particularly successful where the wide tracts of forest and extensive Pripet marshes enabled the encircled remnants of the Red Army to continue to fight or be assimilated into cadres under the political administration of the NKVD. As the partizanschina grew in effectiveness and strength between 1942 and 1943, the German Ostheer were obliged to deploy regular army and SS units, the police (the Ordnungspolizei) and locally raised auxiliaries (the so-called 'Ostruppen') to secure their rear areas. Ultimately, it was the civilian, largely peasant population, that was to bear the brunt of the anti-partisan war (the 'Bandenkrieg), their lives inexorably squeezed between the savagery of the German occupation and the clandestine return of Soviet authority. This scenario attempts to reflect one of the frequent and typical village clearances by a reinforced company of the Ordnungspolizei (regular police) in Byelorussia during the summer of 1943. It is intended to be played as a TCP/IP or PbEM against a human opponent, but can be played as the Allies against the AI with a +2 Experience Bonus. References. Thanks to the following for the inspiration, source material and title of this scenario: Christopher Browning 'Ordinary Men: Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland', David Glantz (2001) 'Barbarossa', John Erickson (1975) 'The Road to Stalingrad', John Erickson (1975) 'The Road to Berlin' and John Winchester (2000) 'Ostfront'. 19. Well, that makes a first for a Russian commander. Actually, they're all cardboard dummy soldiers (or is that their commander?)
  20. Despite a few days hitch NickT and I are flying along in our second round game, Turn 16 of 27 variable. A funny old game, very cagey with a lot of sneaking and HMG suppression fire going on. But I've got a feeling things are coming to a head in a few turns (gulp). Dunno how its going to fall. That's the state of play at this end
  21. Thanks chaps, I agree. You have to autogenerate and then tinker. Shame, my buildings are very prestine. Once again, thanks for the help.
  22. When the Lord created the first map I played on all was well with the world. There were trees and bushes with plenty of covered approaches to the objectives. Amen. When the Lord created the second map he clearly left everything to his New Deal, work experience, apprentice Saturday worker . I'm attempting to manoeuvre my way towards an extremely unlikely objective in a valley bottom overlooked on three sides by hills with little cover. There are some covered approaches so I must be grateful for small mercies. Despite my grumbling, I'm fine about the settings. You just have to work with what you get. The only thing I'd change are the settings for hills. I find the steep inclines a little unconvincing. Modest slopes would do me fine and dandy.
  23. Thanks. Now I know I had a chance to do this at the start of the scenario design process, but how do I get to do it during the design process? I've looked in the settings screen, but can't see a link anywhere. Is it a mystical combination of keyboard commands that I need to press?
  24. When designing scenarios in the scenario editor, is it possible to have some of the buildings partially damaged as in the QB editor? I'm aware of placing the flat rubble marker down, previewing the map, and then placing a building over it to create a collapsed variant, but not of how to set random amounts of building damage across a map. I've got a little game set in Spandau on the brew and some of my buildings just look too damned prestine. I wanted to get some of them partially damaged so that they showed abit of wear, but not ruined. Everything looks as if the road sweeper has just been round. Any tips would be appreciated. Apologies for double post [ May 19, 2003, 06:11 PM: Message edited by: Dr. Juzzy ]
