I just did my own tests. A circle of woods with two platoons of German reg infantry (edited out the Panzerfausts). First tried M3. Took two or three minutes to finally knockout. Then tried M10. Two tests both killed within 20 seconds. Tried a sherman, took about a minute.
Conclusion: it may be specific to half-tracks.

Has anyone played this scenario? It seems impossible for the Americans, even against the computer!

Matt,
Boy for a minor patch I am impressed with all the fixes and tweaks! Until I read the list I did not realize there were any problems with 1.1. You guys are really good.

Guys, I'm not saying the CM AI is bad, but AIs can always be improved (by definition . One of the things I noticed is that the AI tends to move its tanks and infantry out together resulting in the tanks going in first do to their increased rate of speed.
Y'know, if we sit here long enough and dream up enough pie-in-the-sky features for CM2I don't think suggesting a little bit of scripting is "pie in the sky".
The flaw in both ideas is that scenarios are designed for play against the AI or humans. Both ideas would screw up multiplayer play. How would it screw up multiplayer? I'm asking for a little more designer control over the STRATEGIC AI not the TACTICAL AI. Strategic AI is off in multiplayer games
However, you are correct that in the current version you could implement some of this by tweaking reinforcement times. The problem is then it would play poorly as a multiplayer game, although I suppose designers could design two versions.
I'm simply asking what BTS sees as likely AI improvements they see in CM2. I thought a little more designer control over the AI might be helpful.

I own stock in this company.

They make Armor out of strange composite ceramic materials like Silicon Carbide.
Extremely light weight with excellent protective qualities.

Never got an answer to this one. Bump.

Actually infantry usually led if the ground was contested. I remeber showning my step-father Close Combat (he was in the infantry in WW2 in Normandy and later with Armored Infantry) and I asked him if the tanks of infantry should go first. He immediately responded that the infantry always went first in the hedgerows. Later on, during the breakout, armor led, but there was no resistance at that point. When they encountered the West Wall, then it was Infantry first again.

The right answer is the one with the stuffed sheep is the most dangerous. Much more of a temper then her big brother. However, he loves to play CM and knows quite abit about which tank is better BTW Ben is 5 and Rebecca is 3.
In response to Napoleon44 comments, Rebecca was quite fascinated by the white tanks. She kept saying "There's another white one". Why are they painted white?
BTW the sign in front said it was a Firefly, but that hull mounted MG hole makes me wonder. I wonder if they simply left the hole in even though there was no gun?
Mensch, your post was great.
Kitty, they are cute, but they can be dangerous. Just ask my wife! However, if you want one of your own I think there are plenty of potential partners on this BBS .

Which of the three objects above is the fiercest? Parents may have different answers then non parents!

Its only a problem if the computer picks your forces in a QB, or in premade scenarios. If you pick it does not occur.

Do an assualt as the Amis and you usually get a flamer or two.

This is really an odd bug. When you select sharpshooter or flamethrower in a quick battle it has ammo. But if you let the computer do it for you it does not. Also if you look at the premade scenarios in the editor it shows the flame throwers with no ammo (I didn't look at sharpshooters).
Maybe this has something to do with the correction made to tank ammo supples.
We are getting close, but not quite there yet.
-
In a quick battle I just bought 4 Sharpshooters for each side and their was no problem.
-
I have generated several allied assualt scenarios and in five cases the Germans have never picked any equipment from the fortification menu. Given that these costs have been decreased, this smells like a possible bug.

The problem with the question about killing the German verse the Japanese soldier is that it is asked in training camp. For both cultural and propaganda reasons the percentages come out as indicated.
However, once the troops are in the line I don't think there was any difference. That is once the troops started recieving fire they wanted to kill the other guy regardless.

Should we continue testing 1.1 or is the next beta on the way? (Or is there going to be another public beta?).
Also, if we should keep testing would it be possible to see a list of already reported issues so we don't report things that have already been taken care of?

Does anyone know where one can get good topological maps of european battlefields?
For that matter good USGS type maps for europe in general?

Thanks Jeff. Do you have one where he says "Hogan!"

Bummer. Actually I thought that he died a few years ago, but I guess I was wrong.
As an aside in the PA senate race one of the candidates name was Ron Klink. I thought a great campaign commercial would be to have Colonol Klink give him his endorsement . He may have lost anyhow, but at least his campaign would have been memorable.

Please pardon my ignorence. I kind of like this forum the way it is. Why not just archive the older posts? Would that solve the problem?

I'm experiencing the same problem.

I ran three 1000 pt quick battles in a row with 1.05 and 1.1b. The allies (attacker) seem to be getting signficantly less armor in 1.1b using the combined arms.

Matt:
I found the Navigation lib file on the web.

I'll try it when I get home.

I could not find the file at macster.com. I did download the Macster installer, and installed Macster, but CM1.1beta still did not launch. Macster worked fine however .
Please post the "Navigationlib" file if you can.

I'm amazed that this thread is seeing a new life. By the way my son is not as interested in CM anymore as he is with MOO2. I guess he is graduating from the tactical to the strategic .
However, he did get a model of a modern Leopard 2A5 tank for X-mas/hannukah. In combination with myself and he three year old sister we put it together and I must say did a pretty good job. (I did most of the glueing, but they did most of the painting).
In terms of comments, I see a wide range. Personally, I do think children are exposed to significantly more violent images today then when I was a child. The difference is 30 years ago when you saw someone shot in the movies the guy puts his hand over his heart and falls to the ground. Today, you see his blood spouting all over. In my opinion this can not help but desensitize children to violence.
That being said don't kid yourself into believing that the media is responsible for violent behavior. It is hot wired into little boys (and to a lesser extent little girls) from the start. Just ask my three year olds preschool teacher "Everything can be a pretend weapon". As parents it is up to us to make sure kids know the difference between pretend violence (which is probably healthy as it gives the urge an outlet), and real violence.
One final comment. There appears to be clear division between gun owners and non-owners. As a parent I am extremely worried about guns in the hands of kids. Worrying about your kid getting shot in school should never happen. My personal view is that if you own a gun and someone steals it you should be held liable(if not criminally then financially) for the consequences. There are too many guns outthere in the hands of irresponsible people.
