  1. Hi All,

I ran a quick search and the terrain threads are much too confusing, especially after watching the video review on Youtube.

Will the terrain be set as "regions" like in the CM1 engine? Where you would see "Woods" or "Brush" and such, or now with the 1x1 modelling of units you can determine how good the terrain is for cover just by looking at it?

Also, if I see a group of soldiers in what seems like bushes - do the soldiers that are 'behind' a bush are better concealed than ones that are not actually behind one?

    Thanks,

    Itai

  2. Hey All,

Will the game model various firing modes by individual infantry units?

Will we see a squad firing their M4's differently like a soldier firing a burst while his buddies fire on semi auto? will we see weapon jam animations?

I think the recent video clips didn't show much of the actual animations of soldiers, so it will be nice to know

BTW, how do a real combat unit fire? are they allowed to fire bursts, full auto or only semi?

  3. Hey All,

Just stumbled upon this on youtube:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7VH5rOOGdqU&mode=related&search=

It's part 2 of a show about APC's and they also mention the stryker there, pretty cool stuff.

The best part though is that the guy that this channel belongs to "djchow" has the best clips on youtube because they are all taken from TV channels like "the history channel" "discovery" etc..

    Well worth a watch.

    Enjoy,

    Itai

  4. It looks like the Soldier naming system from the previous combat mission games are gone.

I haven't seen soldier / vehicle names show in the various screenshots that were posted.

Is there anyway to implement them before release? I find that the naming system adds to the immersion because you get to "know" the people you command.

  5. From what I read in the comments here, I think the only real solution is to use some sort of earplugs or headphones that block really loud noises and aplifies the softer ones, maybe something built into the helmet, maybe something similar to the old LASH (sp) that was used by Special forces or SWAT, the technology is there in the David Clark headphones that I use when flying a Cessna. The real problem is of course the size of those earphones.

Otherwise like PLM2 Mentioned, I would rather be using earplugs, even in action, I think it's a psychological thing too.

  6. Can anyone let me know if real soldiers wear earplugs as standard issue when they expect a firefight?

I fired a gun a few years back - always with earplugs, then when I took them off down range someone else fired his gun, just one shot - it was so loud I couldn't hear for a few seconds.

I just don't know how soldiers can fight while everyone around them is shooting, not to mention high caliber weapons.

I assume everyone would go deaf after a 30 minute firefight.

  7. Hey Mystro,

It may be a long shot but I think "Full Spectrum Warior" 1 and 2 might be good for the atmosphere / squad tactics.

I think it's pretty unique in it's genre, it's not a shooter and it's not a turn based wargame, it's a very interesting mix that gave me hours of enjoyable gaming and "in your face" firefights.

It will definitely put your friend in the mood for CMSF.

  8. Hi All,

First of all congratulations on the new Website! it looks fantastic.

I was wondering if there are any updates on the special effects in the game.

A quick search dug up old posts about various lighting effects and muzzle flashes.

I would appreciate it if we can have more information about what kind of detail we can expect from the final product.

Thanks in advance, I am looking forward to this game!
