1. I agree the panzerfaust is excellent when your infantry use them against armor not other infantry. I have no problem taking out a tank that moves a bit to close to my infantry.

The only problem with that is your infantry might use them before engaging any enemy armor and not all squads are equipped with a panzerfaust.

I guess it depends on what kind of terrain settings you have setup because infantry would have the advantage in a heavily wooded area, city, or bad weather.

I also agree with your statement about artillery being dropped on your positions and knocking out your teams before they can be used.

  2. Hello,

I was wondering if other people when purchasing units as the axis normally purchase a veteran or regular panzerschreck team to go with each rifle platoon in a company?

I like having a stronger AT option with my rifle platoon either axis or allied. When I purchase Panzerschrecks they are normally very effective at knocking out and destroying light vehicles and armor.

I also like that Panzerschreck teams are fast and can run a short distance to a better position or keep up with a rifle platoon.

The Panzerschreck team really shows its effectiveness when its with a platoon HQ with good combat, stealth, and command abilities.

I’ve also used a Panzerschreck team to knock out an AT gun, just because they were less than 225 meters from the gun.

You really need to have patience with them and wait for a good shot before unhiding.

I guess luck isn't with some people when they use them.

  3. Hello,

I was searching the archives and found this little morsel of information. I was hoping that maybe you could do something like this again? I wouldn't mind seeing a small list of vehicles that haven't had any screenshots taken of them yet. That statement below was posted by Steve back in the olds days before CM was completed.

Well, it is just about 7am here and we have completed Day One of Vehicle days (well, nights really, as we started at 11pm ). We made really good progress and will probably do up another batch Sunday. None of these models are "finalized", meaning they need tweaks and texture fixes, but here is what just went in:

    M8 AC

    M10 TD

    The following Shermans

    M4A3 (76)

    M4A3 (76) HVSS

    M4 (105)

    M4A3 (105)

    M4A3 (105)

    Hummel

    Jagdtiger

Don't expect screenshots any time soon

    Steve

  4. There isn't a way to move a group of vehicles in a convoy. I'd suggest if you want to move vehicles down a road, plot their movements and then give vehicles in the rear of the convoy a Pause command before moving out.

Thanks for any ideas ....

  5. Infantry can't detect regular anti tank mines but if you have engineers about 10 meters away from a anti personnel minefield or daisy chain they will remove them. Engineers and infantry can detect mines but only engineers can remove them. The only way to remove anti tank mines is after one of your vehicles sets them off and you can move a engineer platoon within range to remove them.

Mines may not be spotted too easily, of course, but AFAIK there is no way of placing mines without traces, so at least engineers walking nearby should be able to spot them, shouldn´t they?

  6. Here you go this should answer your questions.

Combat Ranger for Combat Mission is a fully cross-platform program that gives PC and Mac Combat Mission players a single place to gather in real-time. Combat Ranger provides a live 24/7 online forum to meet and arrange two-player TCP/IP or PBEM games, gives players the ability to email their PBEM files from within the application, chat about Combat Mission and the upcoming Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin, and provides an extensive list of where to find scenarios and mods for Combat Mission.

I saw this article last week at Inside Mac games

  7. This was on the second battle of a 10 turn operation and the map is huge and his units didn't start within LOS of my units., so they shouldn't be able to see foxholes from my units within wooded areas and other locations.

I'd like to know if BTS knowns about this operations bug?

Was this on the second/third/fourth battle of the operation? If so then you might simply be seeing the foxholes that you occupied the previous round.

  8. Hello,

Just a quick note about a battle i played last weekend. I forget the date and but I was the allies and I picked the Polish since i've never really used them in a TCP/IP battle. The battle was a QB and my opponent said he would like random units. The battle was good and he put up a good defense and my opponnet made some good decisions and it was a close battle up to the ending turn.

I've never had anyone completely bail out on me in a TCP/IP game but while reading these posts it occured to me that maybe he lost his Internet connection. This used to happen a lot with me when playing dial-up. I always had an AIM or some such instant messae device so we could go right back in. If you met through the opponant finder and did not have any instant message action going he might not have been able to get back in. Did you use the "autosave" and tryto reset it up in case he was trying to get back in?

    Just a thought.

I did reset the battle and waited for my opponent for rejoin and he never did. There is a diffrence between losing a connection and quiting. I believe CM will flash lost connection on the screen when you lose your connection to the host.
