  1. Minor spoiler * * * * Just a warning that the 1.03 reenforcement problem caused one MkIV and one halftrack to be placed in woods - It didn't matter much, but it could spoil a game for someone.
  2. Well my cousin spent 3 days (sleeping on the couch, stinking in his own filth) at my house this weekend, playing CM almost non stop (well, beer, food and some sleep). He went home and downloaded the demo and is playing it now. Almost 4 days total now. He keeps calling and updating me on his current situation in VoT. When he first saw the game, he couldn't care less, now I'm not sure he'll go to work Monday, much less enroll in college in the fall.
  3. I hated this movie. I thought the opening sequence was excellent, but then it degenerated into yet another "rag tag unit goes off on a special mission and saves the day" movie, like many of those made during WW2. In short I feel it was obscene, as you are basically just using the real terror and suffering of war as a backdrop for a stupid, and pointless story. There are so many factual, engaging and exciting stories from the invasion and to make a fictional movie is to do all the men involved great disrespect.
  4. I just finished reading "Rangers in World War II", by Robert W. Black ISBN 0-8041-0565-0 He goes into great detail of what the Rangers were carrying, and when. One problem with Pointe-du-hoc, by the end the Rangers were using lots of captured german weapons, so much so that they were fired on by friendlies. No way to model that in CM. He has TOE's and a list of every Ranger who served. It is an inexpensive paperback.

One of the few things I liked about Steel Panthers was that scenarios had a randomly variable length - even though they would state a time limit of x turns, the computer would add an unknown onto that of a few more turns. Made it hard to make those last suicidal rushes, if you couldn't hold what you'd taken.
  6. As I posted before this happened to me in "A Walk in Paris". I think it's related to 1.03, as the scenario worked fine when I played it in v 1.01
  7. (Spoiler?) This happened to me too, only 1 was in a building, one was in the river and a jeep was in the river. Really spoiled my victory as the Germans when I realized the fr. didn't have all their reenforcements available. It also kept the reenforcements from advancing as I think they tried to keep within command distance of each other.
  8. Warning!!! Spoiler for Walk In Paris !!! I played as Germans vs. Fr. last night, and I had already played the other side before. I was wondering why I only had to take on 2 of the 4 reenforcing TD's and no infantry. When the game was over I checked the map and 1 TD was in a building, a TD and a jeep were in the river. Sort of ruined my feeling of victory. This is with the 1.03 patch. When I played as the Fr., with 1.01 the reenforcements were not in buildings.
