  1. LoL I skimmed through the readme file - thanks for bring it up - it makes a lot more sense now. ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  2. Hi Just loaded up 1.05 and this problem occured to me. In two PBEM email games where I had to purchase y own roster (QB) - arty units had full ammo complements - e.g 300MM rockets with 25 rounds, 81mm Mortar with 150 rounds... I just did a QB on my own to verify this and its the same thing - full loads. Now, I have not loaded V1.04 and these 2 games are new so what am I doing wrong or is this fact a bug... Please advise ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  3. One opponent had an ISP meltdown Another has to work overtime on a crahsed data base The third has gone incognito The fourth is preparing to move and The Fith is gone for the weekend So anyone out there for a good match - send files please to croaker@magma.ca. Newbies and old hands welcome - the end result will be the same regardless. ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  4. Plain 33 - nice to know I am around th e middle - Pat - where is your math magic! ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  5. Same thing happened to me - had a beautiful OOB and then the cpmputer forgot my set-up phase... Had to generate a whole new random OOB and this one is much more desperate! Oh well - commanders took wat they got not what they wanted! ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  6. Minnesota When you get the game - try this. QB with 1000 points and pick only jeeps with 50 cal.s (make sure you've got crack drivers as this if for experimental purposes) and then buy for the axis, some stugs, lynxs hetzers, haltracks etc. (of course anything bigger and gulp...) Drive like mad, shoot like crazy and have fun. As Eridani said, Ma Deuce has a lot of punch and doing this made me have some very real rspet for that light canon! Hey! When you get the game, I will set up a PBEM like that for you - my jeep horde vs say 12 Hetzers, couple of stugs, a few ACs etc... How about it? ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  7. Of course it depends who you are playing against but if a file is not in your mailbox - how do you request it - My 2 favorites 1) WHERE ARE MY FILES? 2) You may not have received it so I am sending it to oyu again and the usual excuse I get is (well from Pat) Oh sorry I must have forgotten to attach it to my email Someone out there must be more creative! ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  8. Competence! Well it sounds like you are giving spoilers about the way the AI thinks! Still, my thoughts are that the AI is very good compared to other games - in fact, its very good and can give you a challenge. Still, at the end of the day, it remains an AI. JT, it you want a real challenge, take up a human opponent in a game of double blind It's real sobering when you are faced with so many unknowns. I've gotten trashed (Pat, Waffen, BJ) and returned it in kind lots of time(Pat, Waffen) . I think that's the real beauty of CM and something to give extreme praise for... It really IS a game to play against another human.
  9. Sign me up - Hey Pat - you loose quite well, maybe this is a place for you too? I await some files eagerly! ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  10. Thanks Bill - willco on the matter and check out MM Plum. Should be interesting but please drop me a notice when and if you get a withdrawal type of scenario done.... BJ - retreat, against those few troop you have .... Now that wouldn't be fun anyway. Why don't you just send me your surrender flag so your amis can go home. Its been to easy to date! ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  11. Wild Bill Just a thought turned into a request for you. Could you put your mind in creating a realistic (historical scenario)where one side has been ordered to conduct a withdrawal and that while doing so, its is being attacked? I would like to practice retreat or break off under fire if such thing really happened? Can do? ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  12. You always hear the big guns when they come in... Agreed that in hot spots - good old 81mm MT with a quick response and plenty of ammo can be a life saver but that still doesn't answer the question of how the cost was determined. The quick response time has more to do with the 81mm MT batteries being attached or being organic to battalion level - because of this, shouldn't they be more affordable and still have quick response time...? In any case, each mm and response time has its own purpose and more importantly you need to know how to use them and for what. Looking foward for a game some day Andreas
  13. Let me clarify a bit on what Pat said - the table I sent him listed the cost of purchase for American artillery spotters in April 1945. As I am working on a DYO, where by foe and I will purchase our own units, I decided to compare cost, to blast value and then add ammo. Now a US 81mm spotter cost 106 points with 50 of ammo - it has a blast value of 18. Firstly, the blast value is weak but that is probably a question of amount of explosive in the shell and that has been researched and documented in depth I beleive. Still, why is an 81mm MT so expensive comparatively speaking to other Spotters? If 81mm batteries were common and attached to Bat level could this not be translated into something more affordable? Sure you get plenty of ammo but aginst dug-in troops.... Bang (or blast) for point it would seem that the 155mm with 198 blast and costing 204 points is a better value even with only 8 of ammo because you will do serious damage even with two rounds. All this to ask BTS how the cost were determined (forgive me if there is a thread on this already)and how plentifulness is translated - by cheaper cost? Or rather by the scenario type i.e as an attacker, I get 1.5 more points that my foe? Just an FYI - APril 1945 German 81mm MT cost 73 points, has a blast value of 19 but has only 36 of ammo. Wonder where this one will go? ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  14. Waffen your are a spoiler - Still thanks for the advert on your OOB! Pat cheezzz - A wirblewind, why oh why are you making things easy for me? ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  15. To my spouse (when calling for diner): I'll be right down! - 40 minutes later.... I'm almost done hon! - 40 minutes later... "Crap no diner"!
  16. The issue of hulldown is always complex in CM given that it is a question of facing and therefore realism! Side shots are always effective especially against AFV with no turrets he he he - Such vehicles were stop gaps after all. Still, thanks for all the support guys! I will put your advice to good use. Pat - I will come and get your Jag.... ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  17. Wild Bill - I am ready Pat is a bit extreme but I do like to shake him up a bit and pester him about PBEMs. Now on CE and VoT, My analysis of the situation is quite different. Stalemate....not! Lets just say, I am taking him apart, unit by unit ------------------ No battle plan survives first contact with the enemy
  18. Although not a frequent talker - I do play my fair share of games - so if you need another tester Wild Bill, send some my way. I on the other hand, may be a bit slower in sending you some testers...
  19. Pat Your troops were noisy. I heard them coming in the previous turn and opted to set up an ambush and hit whatever would be coming. From my point of you, you simply walked into my kill zone one by one during the same 60 seconds. SMGs hurt bad within 40m especially if they get the first burst. That is a good trick though, if you see them coming and have no predetermined objective, try setting-up a welcoming committee to cover a suspected point of entry. With an HQ ubit, setting up ambush markers works really well. Afterwards, use creep with one unit always in the lead.
