  1. Could someone PLEASE give me some tips on armour to armour fighting?! How do the americans make up for the massive quality gap? I invariably lose 3-4 tanks for every german I kill. And recon, forget it. The way I lose them, jeeps and light tanks might as well come in 6-packs. Is there a CM site with armour tips?

    AAAAAAAAUUGH!!! Lost another one.

  2. When I was about 13, I was at my uncle's house wandering through the basement (their children were about 15 years older than me and all their old toys were stored in the basement), I found an old box of games, including AH's origional TACTICS and D-DAY. My uncle let me take them home and I invited some of my friends over to check out these "new" games. We played those two non-stop for about 2 years before I discovered what a "wargame" even was. Later, when I got into roleplaying games, I found the wargames section in the hobbystore. I never looked back. Some of my favorites are "Gettysburg", "The Civil War", and "Empires at Arms" (Napolionic). Anyone ever play "Diplomacy"?

  3. Do captured soldiers affect the victory locations markers? I just played a scenario where I'd routed the british surrounding a victory flag, capturing several in the process. Over the next few turns, my forces advanced, leaving the captives behind. At that point, the victory flag was definitely german. Then, when the game ended, I panned across the map and saw a question mark on the victory location where I'd been storing the captured. None of my own soldiers were in the vicinity, but the POWs all still had their hands in the air (as good POWs should). No one else was in sight -and Fog of War was off as the game had ended already. What gives?

  4. So, it looks like you got a tournament going. How do we keep abreast of who's asses are getting kicked the hardest and farthest? Will there be sponsorship from one of the CM webring sites so we can watch the action from the sidelines after getting completely annialated? Also, is there a name for our prize? Perhaps the coveted "So I Guess I Don't Suck After All" (SIGIDSAA) trophy.

    Enquiring minds wanna know!!!!!!!

  5. You've got to pay close attention to the movies. You tend to gloss over the movies when you first start playing the game, but they're vital to understanding everything that goes on on the battlefield. True, markers would help somewhat, but I wouldn't want to see the playing field littered with little "gamie" flags (usually mine). Anyway, the markers wouldn't tell you what happened. The casualties could've been cuased by something coming from the other direction. Then you'd still have to check the movie.

  6. or how about MYTH type navigation? Same pricnciple, but it goes something like:

    w-forward

    s-back

    q-orbit right

    e-orbit left

    a-pivot left

    d-pivot right

    z-pan left

    x-pan right

    c-zoom in

    v-zoom out

The mouse can also be used in conjunction with the keyboard and for clicking. I find that if you only use the q,w,e keys, reversing with the mouse, you get a very smooth (almost like driving) navigation about the field.

    Something maybe to consider.

  7. Another quick question, since I know you guys are out there.

Is there a thread on this forum explaining the various strengths and weaknesses of the german infantry units? For instance, in terms of CM, are the security forces better for certain types of terrain? How about fuseliers, SS, etc.?

I'm afraid my knowledge of German infantry is lacking and there's too many threads involving infantry to sort through them all. If anyone can give a super quick rundown it would be appreciated.
