In a few weeks, 3dfx will roll this into new Voodoo3 drivers. Please, please, please tell me that I'm not dreaming! I don't give two hoots whether the much anticipated b13 drivers support anything else, but I'm just dying to get hardware rendering for CM out of my VooDoo3. Guys on the MacVoodoo forum say that V5 drivers work for some things with the V3 card/ROM, but in my own incompetent way I can't get it to happen for CM :-( But if I read you aright, it may only be weeks before my V3 will be churning out 1024x768 goodness! Can it be true?
  2. Great work Dave - it's really appreciated by all us "what's a resource fork?" types. Now if you'd just make us a Voodoo3 Rave driver...
  3. Cambridge, UK (but I'm really an Aussie trying to subvert their higher education system)
  4. After my first ever Total Victory last night I'm not sure if I still qualify for the not-so-superbowl, but I'm keen to prove I can be beaten by the worst you can put forward. It struck me that it would be very easy to handicap those with the poor taste to win more than occasionally - say -10% points for two wins and +10% for two losses, cumulative. Last one to +200% is a Peng…
  5. SPOILER Just my 2c worth, but Prum is one of my alltime favourites. The appaling visibility means you have to alter your normal tactics radically to stand any chance. My congratulations to anyone who manages to get off an effective mortar round! I've set up a totally ineffective Ami ambush on the left flank in which each unit got picked off while the others peered helplessly into the dark until it was their turn to be toasted. In the end I was only saved by some armoured car heroics which got his armour tied up chasing me through the woods until the cavalry arrived. This is the _perfect_ scenario for feints as half the time you can't see _any_ of this troops let alone where he's massing. Originally I thought those trucks and jeeps were just going to get in the way - big mistake. Without them the defender would have serious problems getting backup where it's needed even in this little village. Once you see your enemy you need reinforcements yesterday! Thanks very much for this one Bill - every turn brings a new catastrophe and the play balance is very tight.
  6. CM has landed in Cambridge. After one heartstopping moment when there appears to be no CD in the package, Grim tears open the manual and all is well. Mine seems to have come via Amsterdam as well - no wonder they've been playing in Holland for a week. We've had to wait for Italy to put the Dutch mailmen back to work...
