Scorpion, I found that with the drivers I had with my GeForce that it wouldn't display smoke correctly. I updated the driver and everything is perfect! John-SJ

patboivin, The Gold Demo is at 1.02, and the new shipment of CDs (currently shipping) are 1.02. If you have the full game from the original lot then 1.01 is the latest patch available. 1.02 is not available as a patch for any version of the game. Hope this helps. John-SJ

I assume that with the CMHQ-Annex ladder the winner always reports his win. Then the ladder software automatically generates a confirmation e-mail sent to the loser. Until the loser responds to the confirmation the game is not registered. At least, that's what I've gathered so far, but I only know the ladder from the loser's side. John-SJ

When I was looking for these games "Over the Reich" was out of stock so I only have "Achtung Spitfire". A wonderful game! I still play now and then. John-SJ

You'e right Melloj, you shouldn't be having any video problems with that system. I have a similar system and running at 1152x864x16 camera movement is smooth as glass. I'm at work now so I can't check my driver version but are you sure that 5.32 is the most recent Detonator driver? If not, try the latest version. John-SJ

Hey, that's even better than the one I saw a couple of days ago. I had a tank on Move Fast when he was hit broadside by an enemy tank in hiding. My tank burst into flames and continued to coast for some distance before finally rolling to a stop. This was a surprise to me too, I fully expected my dead tank to just stop. I seem to be continually and pleasantly surprised by the little details in this game! John-SJ

The good news is that Gamespot allows player reviews. 9.1 *is* good overall, but I agree with sniperscope, CM's sound is better than a 7! John-SJ

Since the beginning of this thread I've been at a loss to understand what the point of this test, running a platoon perpendicular to MG fire toward a goal, is. I mean, if they are running toward an important goal wouldn't you have defenders at the goal as well as the MGs? And if it's not an important goal, why waste 3 MG teams? What's their purpose? As Steve pointed out in his "test" placing the MGs at the objective, especially with an additional rifle squad is way more effective, not to mention the fact that they are actually defending. I can't believe that in real life the results would be *that* much different. maybe the results wouldn't be identical, but they'd be fairly close, I'd wager. John-SJ

I suspect that the problem is with the video card driver. With this type of problem, it usually is. Make sure you have the most recent driver from 3dfx. John-SJ

Well, when it rains, it pours! About 15 minutes after hitting the Post button on my last post here, guess what came in the mail? That's right! CM is in California! Ordered 6/22, delivered 6/30! Happy days! John-SJ

I tried CC4 demo, it crashes (freezes) within 2 minutes. I have the latest drivers for my h/w. Oh well, with CM it's no great loss. In fact, I don't count it ANY kind of a loss. John-SJ

I certainly will be buying Diablo 2 shortly. However, before I got hooked on CM I had thought Diablo 2 was a "must pre-order" game, now I am content to wait 'til I can comfortably buy the game, no need to rush out for it. The only other games I'm seriously anticipating are "Reach For The Stars" and "Stars! Supernova". I *hope* at least one of these will be worth the wait! John-SJ

Smack, This is hands down the best wargame I've played. I only have the gold demo so far but even so the AI is full of surprises. I've never seen an AI better at coordinated attacks than the CM AI! And it's a pretty good active defender as well. BTW, considering your first post here, I'm surprised you don't have CM already. Does this thread mean that you've reformed? John-SJ

at the thought and detail that went into this game. Last night I was just looking at things in the (gold demo) Valley of Trouble scenario. I had one of the spotters in the house on the hill (216?) when the Germans began to bombard it with artillery. The camera was at ground level about 100 feet behind the house when all of a sudden one of the rounds hits right in front of the camera! KA-BOOM!!!, and debris flying everywhere! The volume of the explosion and the debris surprised me so much I almost jumped out of my chair! WOW! Then later, I was flying the camera toward one of the bunkers with machine gun. As I get closer the machine gun sound increases in volume, then closer and I hear a high pitched squeak. Hmmm, what's that?! Then closer and the squeaking noise resolves into a tinkling noise and I realize that I'm hearing the machine gun shell casings as they hit the ground. Well, I'm totally impressed! That attention to detail is seldom found in a wargame, but I guess that's because a wargame of this caliber (pun intended) so seldom comes along! Fantastic job, BTS! Whenever I have a problem of this sort I always suspect drivers. Make sure your drivers are up to date, especially your sound and video drivers. John-SJ
