  1. Do some Google seaches on "Battle of Caen" and "Pegasus Bridge". </font>
  2. It is included in all allied tanks from July '44 on. There is no graphic of the cutter themselves, just like in CMBO, but instead the tanks are given the capability to cross tall hedges (Bocage in CMAK).
  3. Does the type of motor transport in a battalion dictate what type of squad that battalion would field? IOW, according to this site, of the 4 infantry battalions in 12SS Pz only one (III/26) was equipped with SPWs. Given that, would the squad makeup of the other battalions be the 10-man motorised infantry, or would some retain the 8-man PzGr makeup?
  4. So then the obvious question would be how common were the Achillies in Normandy? According to the link Jon provided the 4th Canadian armored div swapped their Wolverines for Achillies, but it appears the infantry divisions retained the towed version. Would this practice carry over to British units as well?

  6. Yes, quite right too. I just cross-checked with a couple of different sources and discovered that CM has it right - no M10C Achillies till early '45. I'm just off to beat the first source into a bloody pulp with a 3 inch stick. Toodle pip. </font>

  8. OK, lets get some scores posted, shall we? The first scenario on our list is Methode Champenois. As with the regular tourney I will post three numbers beside each players name, with the axis player first. The first is your scenario score (in bold). The second is the difference between your score and the median score. The third is the difference from the median divided by the standard deviation. This will give you a rough idea of who the leaders are in each section. Keep in mind that the last figure is pre-AAR bonus. Once we get those added in we will run the scores thru the Nabla system, and we announce our winners. Also keep in mind that only the top 6 matchups are the ones vying for the wine. 10. Redwolf, Thank you for taking the time to translate the book. The pieces are slowly coming together. I took the liberty to e-mail the webmaster of the 59th division site to see if he had any more info on the German defenses at La Bijude. Unfortunately, he didn't, but he did point me to this site.
  11. I'll get that one in, probably tonight when I do the prelim score calcs. That should give you guys a rough idea of the leaders of each section (pre-AAR bonus and final Nabla calcs).
  12. Noyers-Bocage In an effort to draw German reserves away from the upcoming Operation Goodwood, Monty launched Operation Pomergranate on July 16th. This comprised a series of attacks aimed at Noyers-Bocage, and employed the 3 infantry divisions (49th, 53rd and 59th) of XXX Corp, along with strong armored support. While the 49th (West Riding) division advanced south from Juvigny, and the 53rd (Welsh) from Haut du Bosq, the 59th (Staffordshire) would aim straight for Noyers. This would bring them into the bocage country, and over some of the most heavily fought over terrain of Normandy. Arrayed against the XXX Corp were the German 276th and 277th infantry division, recent arrivals to the Normandy battlefield, with elements of the 2nd and 9th SS panzer division in reserve. Over the next two days the front would see-sawed back and forth as the British launched repeated attacks in an effort to penetrate the German defenses. Twice the men of the 59th managed to pentrate into Noyers-Bocage, only to be thrown back by German counterattacks, or withdrawn due to losses and exhaustion. In the end the 59th was ordered not to continue in its efforts, but to maintain the line it already held. Noyers-Bocage remained in German hands. Can you do better? Combined arms / 60 turns / Allied attack. 6000+ points Allies / 5000+ points German. Drop me a line if you are interested in taking it for a spin. Address is in my profile. 14. Bump for Redwolf Jon, Thanks for the info. I'm going to use Wolverines, since the Achillies doesn't show up in CMBO until Jan '45.
  15. Force ratio and location of flags are the two variables in the different battle types. For a meeting engagement both sides get an equal number of points to spend, and the flags are generally located in the center. You are also not allowed to call in prep barrages in a ME, nor can you dig in any of your troops. One more difference is that you cannot spend points on fortifications. Probes will place the flags a quarter of the way into the defenders zone, and the ratio of attacker to defender is 1.25 to 1. Attack battles will give the attacking side a force ratio of 1.5 to 1 against the defender, and the flags are located halfway into the defenders zone. Assault has the flags 3/4 of the way into the defenders zone, and the ratio is now increased to 1.75 to 1.
  16. I have just sent out an e-mail to those who still have games in progress. I need to know if you are able to finish in time. If not, let me know now, so I can make arrangements.
  17. There are two of them. One is called "For the familiy honor" by Rune and it came with the CD. The other is called "Proof of Honor" by Jwxspoon and is currently being played in the ROW IV finals.
  18. Excellent! Thanks for that. On a related question, does anyone know what type of tanks were present in the following formations during mid-July '44: 141st & 144th R.A.C. - Churchills of Shermans? Westminster Dragoons - This unit is part of 79th armd div, so am I correct in assuming that the Crocodiles mentioned in the 59th division's website are from this unit? Also, the same website mentions the 234/73 AT battery as being under 59th div's command during Operation Pomergranite, and it list the unit as being equipped with SP 17pdrs. Would these be Archers or Achillies? Yes, I am a stickler for detail when it comes to scenario design.
  19. Update time. I will post one more between now and the deadline, so take a good look and verify that your game has been submitted. I won't post scores yet, but if anyone wants to verify their score they can e-mail me. Of course, if you have completed all your games you can see the entire spreadsheet, so e-mail me for that as well. My address is in my profile. One more thing. The ratio of completed games is very high, and I thank you all for getting it done. However, there may be a few that won't make it in time. If that is the case, you have the option of sending me the last game file and I will burn thru the turns so as to finish the game. I will not issue any orders, just switch to hotseat mode and hit go until games end. Before we resort to that I would like for you to work it out with your opponent. If by Friday evening you have no other option, send it to me. 20. Glenn_78, The scenarios have yet to be released to the public. When they do it will most likely be as a pack. However, if you want I can send you my scenario (South of Vevi) ahead of time. I didn't see any glaring mistakes from reading the AARs, so it will most likely be released in its original form. E-mail me if you are interested. My address is in my profile.
  21. Redwolf, Does the 12ss book mention anything on the trench system the Germans dug in and around La Bijude? Anything else on their defensive arrangements? Unfortunately I cannot read German, but I do enjoy their beer.
  22. Redwolf, Date is July 7-9, 1944. Bogdan, I would greatly appreciate a scan if it isn't too much trouble. The area I am interested in is around the vilage of La Bijude. It is roughly midway between Cambes and Epron, just north of Caen. Check out the map from the link I provided to get a general idea of where the village is. My address is in my profile.
  23. Anthony Hudson (a.k.a. "Stoneage"), I received your score for 'Wolf', but my return e-mail bounced back. Just wanted to let you know I did get it. Everyone, When sending a score please CC your opponent in the e-mail.
  24. I am looking for any info on the battles around La Bijude, a small town located roughly between Epron and Cambes. During Operation Charnwood the British 59th division battled elements of the 12th SS Panzer in and around the village. Maps, OOBs, AARs, anything would be helpful. I am particularly interested in the German's defensive deployments, especially the trench system that was constructed south of the village. So far this site has provided the best info. Many thanks in advance
