1. Not sure.

    You can try, though.

All you need to do is create a new directory or folder, place copies of all the bitmap (.bmp) files into that new folder.

    Then, apply the mod.

Try to load the game and play.

If it works, great. If it doesn't, take the copies you placed in the new folder, and put them back where you originally got them.

Your game should run again, with the original bitmaps.

  2. 35, married, a 4 1/2 year old son born on Valentine's day. Two cats, one white (OK, most of the time she is off-white), one black with a white diamond on his chest and thumbs on his front paws. Oracle database administrator in Halifax, on the East coast of Canada. B.A. Psychology too, hoping it would help me understand people. Ha.

I started playing strategy games in grade 10, with SPI's Panzer '44. Played many of the AH games since (including one called something like Cosmos 3000), AD&D before the DM Guide was released for the first time, before it really went commercial (and quality dropped), played Squad Leader, ASL, Star Fleet Battles, G.E.V. and Ogre, Car Wars, etc. throughout late High School and well into my undergrad degree. I liked Harn a lot and Rolemaster, AH's Titan, and the Illuminati card game. For a while, collected a few sets of Microarmour.

Played with toys in the seventies and early eighties that are now worth big bucks on eBay (e.g. Space 1999 stun gun and a Dinky Space 1999 Eagle), but I don't have any of them anymore. My father threw out my complete collection of hockey cards from the 1972-73 season. I have no idea how much that would be worth today.

Oh I saw the Space Shuttled perched on top of a Boeing 747, like in the James Bond movie, at the Ottawa airport. Really impressive.

    'nough said about me.

The only advice for teenagers is: Live now, don't put things off, try to be responsible, and be yourself. When you are on your deathbed, will you have at least attempted all the things that were important to you. You may get hit by a bus tomorrow, are you ready?

I used to have high hopes for my future in life, but the more time passes, the more I learn, the more disillusioned I become. The less I take for granted that people will do the right things. Is that wisdom? (I doubt it, often I don't know what to do to help people.)

  3. BTS just doubled their staff!

Now they will be twice as fast. No, maybe one and a half times as fast, now they will have to hold meetings to keep track of what's going on in their company. The local pub will get crowded!

I think they will be busy for a while with WW-II modules.

Then they are going to do a sci-fi version, called Ewoks' Revenge. It will be a blast!

Modern warfare may follow, after all the important modules have been done.

You are getting ready for the Barbie version of computer ASL that Hasbro plans to release soon...

On my laptop, any kind of fog turns the whole screen into pale grey, and I can't see a thing -- it's perfect!

Night time doesn't black out the screen, though.

  5. Hurray! He's back.

Did you receive your copy of CM, finally?

You missed piles of Mods, they are all on MadMatt's web site.

There have been a few skirmishes between two types of rodents, and also between undesirables and good people.

    The undesirables have been ousted.

Now we have a bouncer hired by BTS, MadMatt.

p.s. That was actually my FIRST site ever. My second was CMHQ...

That page looks good, MadMatt. Those two tanks in the foreground don't look very happy...

Congratulations, I think BTS made yet another good decision.

On a related note, I found a website a few weeks ago for a company in Florida that builds fullsize replica vehicles. They did a number of Armored Recon Cars (full 8 wheeled gizmo, turret, et al) in the past two years, and their design project for the coming year or two is a replica Panther I think. Now if I could just find the site again. mad.gif

I was wondering if anyone did stuff like that.

    Interesting.

  8. IMHO the reason these threads appear regularly is that you have all these people waiting for their PBEMs to come back from their opponents, so they surf the forum.

If there is nothing new to read, they have to create it. I know I posted some silly comments while I was bored, I'm sure most people ignore me by now.

You can cut down on boredom by playing a QB, but sometimes it's more fun to scan the forum for information and for a good laugh.

I have no complaints with BTS, quite the contrary I think their approach is well thought out, I agree with their philosophy and if there are flamers out there once in a while bored people like me can pounce on them and make them turn tail. (after a lot of flying fur and plenty of hissing, spitting and scratching)

  9. I am wondering how the AI could possibly know which road intersections are more important.

How would this work for city scenarios, where there are heavy buildings everywhere?

The only minor (very minor) thing I would try to fix with the flags is the way they block movement plotting when where we want to send a unit is on the other side of a flag. For some reason the flags take up a lot of space over the graphics of the game. It is really minor though because it is easy to move around and position our point of view on the other side of the flag, then click to tell the unit where to go.

I doubt there can be an automated system out there that might correctly identifies what the priorities could be for either side in an engagement, it depends on too many things. Even the mix of units matters here, e.g. how fast units can move.
