1. Like my buddy here in Denver, my copy has also arrived.

Got scared when I drove into the driveway though. First thing I saw was the poster tube rubber banded to the door (egad, did I only get a poster?). Unfortunately, both edges of the poster are crumpled slightly. No big deal I guess just as long as the game got here.

Next thing was FedEx had left a slip on the door since I wasn't home. (egad, did they really ship FedEx and I missed it?) This was work related crap though, not the game.

Next thing was there was a new phone book on the front porch. (egad, did they really ship the thing in a phone book?)

Went out to mail box and low and behold there was the priority mail pouch with game in it which was quickly torn open just to confirm.

Gotta run. Just need to finish loading game and patch and I'm into playing.

Only thing that sucks is that I have to go to my last session of my grad class I'm currently taking tonight. Hopefully we get out early.

  2. kmead,

Did she tell you the second half of the story about the wonderful noises it made as it was ground up in the garbage disposal. wink.gif

Sorry, couldn't resist. Hope you guys all enjoy the game. I'm going to get out of work here in just about 15 minutes to go home and find out if I've been blessed by the CM gods, or not.

Rob (and everyone else for that matter),

I hope you do as well! In fact, I hope most everyone here in the States, Canada, etc., gets theres today. And that everyone else overseas doesn't have to wait much longer as well.

Good to see someone else here in the Great Rocky Mountains is a CM nut too (not just the regular kind of nuts found here, mostly transplanted from California wink.gif ). So far only folks I know of are you, me and my buddy.

  4. Thanks for the pic's LeftWing66!!!!! smile.gif

Other "good" news is CM has arrived in Denver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend just called me since he went home for lunch and said his copy has arrived! He just preordered about 3-4 weeks ago. So I assume my order from over a year ago will be here too. "Packing Slip" for his delivery said it shipped out on 6-16-00 which was Friday.

PS: I'm going to have to go home early now. The suspense is going to kill me. wink.gif

demo came out not gotten their copy? I pre-ordered before the beta

demo and *still* no CM today. I can't believe it.

    Lee,

I preordered on May 7, 1999 (well over a year ago). Was quite disappointed when it did not show up here by at least Sat. in Denver. I don't buy all this road travel nonsense either (postal folks out there correct me if I'm wrong). I know darn good and well a lot of mail gets sent to and fro across the country on aircraft. I've bloody well seen the USPS bags getting loaded on commercial jetliners before. Is that 3rd class junk mail in those bags that are getting air transport? I somehow seriously doubt it. Not saying that it got on an airplane, but chances are probably pretty good that it did/could have.

Also, I can't believe that folks that didn't preorder until only a couple of weeks ago have already gotten there's!!! This bites (no offense intended as I'm sincerely hoping everyone that has gotten the game is enjoying the heck out of it). I can understand the distance thing (i.e proximity to BTS shipout point), but it seemed to me that it took a number of days according to Steve to get all the orders out in the first place. And that really didn't even start happening until Thur. from the sound of things. I don't know, all I can say is that I'm quite disappointed that I don't have the thing yet. Only thing I can guess is that 1) I just missed getting it Sat. and w/ no Sunday delivery it doesn't make it here until today, 2) When I updated my order w/ Steve back 6-8 weeks ago something got screwed up and I lost my place in line...?

Either way, if it isn't here in Denver today I'm going to be very upset. frown.gif

I'm not trying to complain just yet, but I'm certainly not very happy at the moment either.

  6. No Joy here in Muddville (Denver) either.

Ordered on day one of pre-order being available well over a year ago. Would have hoped my order would have been one of the lucky 50 that went out Wed. Those games must have all went out to playtesters, etc. So I'd think mine would have went out by Thur. at latest then. Here it is this afternoon and postman has come and gone. Must have been Thur. shipout and it's going to take the full 3 days to get here. Arrrrrggggggggg!!!

    Grrrrrrrr, frown.gif Majorly bummed out.

Guess it's looking like Monday now.

  7. I'm still here waiting. Bloody damn mail man hasn't shown up yet. Been home for 2 1/2 hours now and nothing but false alarms. Twice by the Culligan bottle water truck, another by Fed Ex dude. Called forward my best sniper 2nd time the Culligan guy came by and had him taken out. 57mm AT gun now hidden up at the top of the street w/ orders to take out anyone else that might wander by other than US Postal Delivery trucks. Meanwhile intently watching the community mailbox which sits right between my and the neighbors house. I know I'm nuts, probably won't show up till tomorrow anyway. Oh well.

PS: Wait, I here something out front now. That could be the mail delivery van!!!!!

  8. I ordered on very first day that you could preorder back last May. So I'm hoping I'm one of the lucky 50 that got shipped out on Wednesday. With 2-3 day delivery here in the states I'm really hoping mine will show up today. I've got some stuff to do for school so I'm leaving work here in about 15 minutes. Of course, that means I'll be home should the postman come a knocking at the door too! wink.gif If I get something, I'll let you guys know. Of course not much school work is going to get done if the thing shows up, but oh well, so be it.

  9. Had something similar happen the other day to my Panther in VoT. My "friend" decided to bombard my reinforcement entry point (which is OK since we basically play "no holds barred"). I knew this would happen so had the Panther moving fast from the get go. Thought I was out of trouble and pulled up behind the edge of the hill near there and popped one of his Shermans. 105's start landing soon thereafter and one of the last rounds in the turn lands at least 20-30 meters away, tank instantly immobilized. I even turned off the tanks to see if there was a shell crater right under the tank or something but there wasn't. I just chalked it up to bad luck and shrapnel that must have flown into side of tank and damaged a track.

  10. Sorry about that guys. The link I'm referring to is the hypertext link on the main CM webpage that you click on to get to a screen where you can download the patch. Once there, you start downloading and the path where the download comes from is the one that is noted above which is now corrected and works. You only see this while you are downloading though. And I'm here at work right now and we have incredibly fast internet connections, the patch downloads so fast that I hardly have time to read the path it is coming from. Had to do it three times now just to get it right.

After looking at where the original path actually downloads the patch from it looks like it is coming from the exact same directory in actuality. So the patch you get from the main CM page vs. the downloads page orginally posted above must actually be the same. Sorry about the confusion guys.

    Mike

  11. ******************** WARNING ****************

Potential Problem with using above link:

If you look on the main CM page where the link to the patch is it does not download from the same directory noted above. It takes you instead to:

    ftp://ftp.battlefront.com/pub/patches

It is therefore possible that the version of the patch in one place vs. the other may not be the same for some reason. I would suggest you follow the link on the main CM page to get the patch just to be safe since this is where BTS linked us to to get the patch vs. what's noted above.

    BTS, is there any difference?????

    Hopefully the answer is no.

  12. Actually the phone book is BTS's secret packaging for shipping the game in that they would never reveal to us. There is a "secret" carved out pocket in the middle of the phonebook where your precious CD and 180 page manual rest. They figured that was the best way to camoflauge your game so that your neighbors wouldn't see it and steal it. Plus the wife wouldn't see it and confiscate it before you got home this way too wink.gif

You didn't throw the phone book away in a blind rage now, did you?
