  1. ... One of the totally sweet ninjas stopped me with a totally cool hand gesture. And by cool I mean totally sweet. Smoke filled the air and those little bastard greys were running around everywhere! The ninjas one and all screamed out TOONGA! and started chopping off heads left and right! Those alien bastards were gettin it stuck to em Compton style (yo!) All the action was gettin to me a lil so I pulled out my trusty PPSH41 and started sprayin in every direction as well! Unforunately, all the liquor, acid, opium, hash, and the multitude of other drugs started gettin to me, so I sat down on a handily located nearby rock, and went to sleep. I woke up with a bright light in my eyes and saw shapes moving about in the periphery of my vision! I somehow knew I was in George W Bushes living room and someone was watching some type of porn when.........

  2. Betram I believe I know the answer to your problem.

You're using your HQ to spot for the mortars correct?

What you do then is have your mortar target an enemy unit or a spot of ground (it can be out of mortar LOS)

Now, you have to make sure, absolutely sure, that the HQ can see this spot. Otherwise, like you said, nothing will happen and the target order will be cancelled. The reason they probably started firing was because the next spot you chose for them to fire on the HQ unit had LOS to.

    Hope this helps...

  3. Every single unit in the game costs a certain number of points... The # of points depends on their usefulness, firepower, etc etc etc etc and the total point size tells you basically how many units are involved.

edited cuz this didnt make sense at first and I was beaten to it by a damned Kanuck! Argh.. the humanity..

  5. Lane, for after battle experience, all you gotta do is take your before battle experience, add one for every squad or unit. Now at the bottom of the battlegroup sheet there are notes, for every infantry squad that caused any casualties to the enemy add another point (+2 so far) For squads that cause 12+ casualties it becomes +2 (so +3 so far)

Other things play in as well, and the number of casualties caused and experience gained differs with tanks, etc.

Now, add it up and put in the after battle experience. Thats the XP for the people who survived the battle. Now, look in the rules, and see the note on replacements and after battle XP. There is a formula there where you tally in after battle XP, and the quality of your replacements, and how many men have to be replaced as opposed to how many are left...

Yes, they do. Roll up 50% and see half of your guys die. Sucks, eh?

I still don't see how you could only get one platoon and one tank in a 1000 pts game.

Did you or the AI assault? How big task force did you roll up? What casualty rate? </font>

  7. What you gotta remember is this is all abstracted somewhat. So when they throw a grenade bundle at even a pillbox, they could be trying to drop it in ventilation shafts, or through the slit, etc.

I dont think your troops can enter pillboxes...

If its got a red base its alive or has a few seconds left to live (dead but death clock is still tickin)

Your troops can engage vehicles and pillboxes at anywhere from 20-40m depending on the range, closer too of course but thats my fav range- I like em covered up unless I know they wont get shot moving to the rear of the pillbox

Hitting pillboxes from the rear seems to be the most effective tactic for killing them but that usually isnt possible to do safely in most of the situations i've encountered...

    Edited for head trauma

  8. Im not exactly sure what the official ruling is on this, but what I always do and what seems to make the most sense to me is to just keep it at 1 then.

I always do this when it tells me to subtract a number greater than what I have, i.e. subtract 6 from 2, I drop it to one and keep it there.

If its adding, i.e. 4 to 7, I just put it at 10 and keep it there. Otherwise its just addition or subtraction

    Hope this helps

Edited becuz the mind works in funny ways

I dont believe I made a mistake, I rolled up the parameters in Biltaid, set everything to unrestricted, so the only mistake I could have made would be the answer to my original question, because I set the battle with 50% casualties on... That was the question I was asking in the first place - Does the casualty modifier you roll up for your task force also apply to your troops in the battlegroup? If not, what do I do to simulate the task force casualtys? Cut out 40% of the forces or 50% or whatever I roll when the battle starts?
  10. I personally liked the shockwaves in CMBO, I dont give a flying fu*k if they were realistic or not, I'd like to try em out for CMBB. Problem is, I dont know if such a mod is possible? I dug around old posts some and there was talk in November of last year about a shockwave mod or patch thing, but no links or sites were named... Does anyone know if this is possible and/or have a site with the file on it?

  11. Just keep pluggin at it Knaust... You'll get better, I reallly really sucked ass when I started playing CMBB (havin not played CMBO for more than a year hurt me too)

After a few rough PBEMs and playing single player intensively I'm doin better =D

If you want a PBEM mail me...

Otherwise my advice on one way to learn really fast is get Biltongs Campaign Rules and prolly Biltaid as well.. Play with the same battlegroup for several battles and you'll get an excellent feel for what you can do with a certain type of Infantry Company

Also remember a lot of the weapons and tactics you used in CMBO may not work not only because CMBB is different, but because you may be playing in 1941 or somefink... =D

Lot harder to kill tanks without 'schrecks and 'zooks huh?

In the end I like CMBB a lot better, I think the armor is improved a whole lot, and the infantry is more realistic.

  12. Alright I got a question... The casualties setting in Biltaid or in BCR spreadsheets at all - does this apply to your task force or globally to your company as well? If it only applies to the task forces how do you simulate this in a battle?

And WTF am I supposed to do when I get ordered to a 1000 pt. assault and end up with about 1 platoon of troops total and 1 tank?! With 40% ammo?? Well I pressed on and was cautious... major defeat because I refused to take anymore trenches or move on beyond a treeline, I destroyed several BT tanks and a couple of guns, and already those goddamn reds started counterattacking...

Next battle, counterattack, I get again about 1 platoon of forces, with 1 HMG, and 1 tank!! ARGHHH! I played it out... 1000 point Allied assault! Allied forces +75% Soviet high quality guards troops (ouch ouch ouch)

Oh my god.. everyone except my CO got killed. Everyone. 200 something Soviet casualties though, and somehow this was computed to a draw. (hey I was happy) but still it didnt seem like a draw cuz unless the troops that werent there arent counted, everyone is dead except my co and a couple of guys in his squad...

Edited cuz this is hard enough to read now, dont even picture it before..

  13. Ok, well I think we got off topic, so to kinda push it back on to the topic I'll throw in my lot with what I know or knew...

Schuerzen Skirts are helpful against shaped charge weapons or stuff that uses HEAT (panzerfausts and bazookas, etc, but not usually weapons fired from cannon as the velocity is too high, and they usually just shoot an AP at ya)

    They are worth it

They dont do jack against a tank or anti tank gun

All this was known to me since the CMBO beta demo days...

Now - I did NOT know they were useful against AT Rifles! But I see how that'd work, of course, I never even bother buying them. They really only work for me against half tracks or armored cars, and the idea to me of deploying AT Rifles to stop Pz III's or IV's is laughable..

Maybe other people have had better luck with em, but I just rely on my armor, AT guns, and infantry... Of course its harder on the Soviets, but since I usually play Axis I get to play with Fausts and Schrecks later on, which makes everything oh-so-simple.

Pz V's (Panthers) really had skirts too? I didnt know this, Im not debating its true, I've just never seen a picture or heard of this... I've seen III's & IV's with em, StuGs, and JG/Pz 70s, but never Tigers or Panthers... (oh my!)

Anyways theres my 2 cents until i think of more useless babble...

edited cuz CMBB never had a beta demo ;)

  14. "Well that was unduly civil and polite. And male supermodels are so interesting and competent how?"

Oh no! Not another Vanilla Ice sighting! Seriously though, what male supermodels?

Quotation marks added and edited because I suck at UBB code and you REALLY didnt wanna see what this looked like before I did this ;)

  15. We realized how ultimately gay the pirates were. We had sailed straight into realultimatepower.net! Somewhere in the distance, the gay pirates spotted a cove, and a bitchin guitar sounded! The pirates all started wailing and pissing themselves like Lt. Bull's pissant troops, and hundreds of ninjas started forming on islands in the horizon. The lame ass pirates didn't do anything but cry, and the ninjas all morphed into this gigantic guitar which blared out the coolest tune ever! All the pirates promptly started spraying diarhhea on eachother and exploded. It was cool, and by cool I mean totally sweet! After we cleaned ourselves up, and told the ninjas that we didn't really like the pirates anyways, and after they said 'yeah, right' and cut off several of my companions heads, giving Gabriella a private 'special acupuncture', and in the end only sparing me and her. Gabriella started acting weird and spent more and more time with the totally awesome ninjas, and the nights on the cove were punctuated by the sounds of soft porking. One day though, the sun was blotted out, and thick cloud descended on our tropical hidaway, our band knew it was time to do somefink about this! The totally sweet ninjas and I set off to...

Edited to be cool, and by cool I mean totally sweet.
