  1. You probably wont get a response... Because it basically is a bug, the same with tanks hitting rises in the ground when they're shooting at something and they keep ploughing the ground in front of it. I always just move my tanks over or something. Yeah it is kinda ridiculous, but it rarely happens and CMBB ownz all (L33T Foo!) so we just gotta live with it..

    Doesnt bug me...

What bugs me is frikkin open maps in BCR where I gotta assault! Especially when the AI kicks ass! That bugs the **** outta me!

  2. Alrighty then, here we go... quick question

If some of my squads hit 25 experience points therefore becoming veterans.. how do I model this? Obviously I cant buy an entire veteran company... and if I buy a veteran platoon it may be off as well, as other squads in the platoon may not be veterans or even close. Also if I did this (by each platoon) then another problem would be that I would lose my heavy weapons platoon from buying the regular company...

    Any takers?

  3. Cool thanks for responses all!

I did mobile defense and liked that one,

Dergatschi Roadblock was the favorite I played today, and Magnuszew Bridgehead was good too, but I think the Germans get too many forces and have too much time... (shoulda played a person)

Dergatschi Roadblock was more fun and you had to rush more due to time constraints. Ill go look for Lost Panzers, and hope to see that OP soon Jeff, mail me if you want another tester... Ill play multi or single.

Anyone know if any of the Stalingrad Pack ops are smaller sized...?

  4. Just played this op today, thought it was pretty good (though unbalanced after my third battle against the AI =P)

But thats how it may have been in real life I guess.. Thats my problem, the I guess part. Does anyone know of any good sites covering the battle for the Bridgehead, and what happened around that time in the area? Or could anyone outline it for me here? This battle has piqued my curiousity.

Also I already know about the Russian Battlefield site, and the Royal Opponent AAR (true life one) so spare me with that...

    thanks

  5. A question... I've been playing all this time and never thought to ask it - Im still in 41 ( dying to get to 42 )

and I've been fighting it out with my Waffen SS Panzer Grenadier kompanie. Now their companies are about the same pointage as regular wehrmacht companies, have the same makeup, and I buy the same armor. A question though, is this compatible with the rules or will it throw a wrench into the machinery somewhere?

  6. Lol good suggestions all - I especially liked your quote Piggdogg - the Uber cats - Unter cats thing.. I've never thought of it in those terms, but nothing could be truer! If you play with your Tigers, Panthers, and KT's when you know your up against stuff that can kill them carefully, almost like they were just PzIV's you'll do a lot better! Just pretend they get killed really easily, but can kill well. If you look at it from that mindset and are careful, chances are noone will kill them. Remember to watch those flanks, and its usually good to hide them behind cover until you establish where the enemy armor is...

  7. I think I may know the answer to your problem... Note how the craters from the shells form a line? I've had this happen to me several times and it deals with the angle the tank is firing at the target from. I guess techinically the commander or tank can see the target, but the gun cannot shoot it. I always fix by moving tank to a different angle or going in closer. I dont think it's exactly bug, but yes it is annoying sometimes...

  8. Wow thanks for all the replies all, especially JasonC and Coe.

Anyways, this is how it turned out:

I had 1 StuG III in the wheatfield, (crack unit) and 1 PZ III left on the outskirts of town (crack unit) my other Pz III that was alive unfortunately had gun damage. I managed to wax all the light T-60s, and with the StuG at long range I took out a couple more T-34s. The KV1 wasnt there - it was a continual misidentification that wasnt clarified until Iafter the battle. Another one of my infantry platoons fell, but the PzGrenadier reinforcements I received hadnt even fired a shot yet and were deployed near the church. Unfortunately for me, there were many T-34s left and my tanks had run out of AP ammo! Nevertheless, I continued my duels with HE ammo, achieving very little, but continuing to be lucky without any more armor losses and 3 air strikes specifically targetted at my tanks doing nothing! (2 of them were rockets and were dead on as well!) The time limit for the battle run out and I ended up salvaging this near certain major defeat to a draw. Of course V played extremely well, and in an operation my forces would have had to pull back from the village immediately, the same in real life if they wouldnt have withdrawn already! (1 plt of veteran PzGrenadiers, I Pz III crack with just HE ammo, 1 StuG crack with just HE ammo, vs a Soviet company (?) and several T-34s!)

So though it was satisfying to pull a draw pointwise, both me and my opponent know what the real out come of the battle was. It does pay to have a tenacious grip sometimes though.

Again thanks for the tips, and I've got some more questions:

Sewer movement - practical at all really?

IS-2 Tactics - I know they have slow reloads and slow turrets, etc.

Preferred Soviet assault gun of 1943?

Preferred Soviet assault gun of 1944?

thats all I can think of for now..

    thanks again guys
