1. Well, I have finally lost (the rest of) my mind. To celebrate the occasion: The Newbie Tournament is on! "One will win all; the rest will lose one." This tournament is intended specifically for new players of Combat Mission. If you are an experienced player, please do not apply. The idea is for those who are less experienced to play against each other. The "newbie" requirement applies to Combat Mission AND multiplayer gaming. If you have been playing a lot against the AI but little or never against a human opponent, you would still be considered a "newbie." If you are interested, send me an email (tedquincey@yahoo.com) and I'll send you the rules and a questionnaire. The deadline for submitting the completed questionnaire is Friday, December 7 at 1200 hours (GMT -6:00). Participants and Alternates will be announced later on Friday, December 7. The tournament will officially begin on Saturday, December 8. Oh, and bribes are happily accepted. If you have something you would like to send, just ask for the address when you send your email.
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: So the Newbie Tournament is a reality. That's great news, SuperTed. I'll help you playtest a scenario or two for the tourney if you want. Treeburst155 out.

Thanks, Mike, but I don't think that will be necessary. If it is, you'll be the first victim.
 3. BM (Hmmm...), Don't worry too much about your member number (Hmmm...). This tournament will be for those who are new to CM, new to multiplayer play, and new to tournaments.
 4. C-N, A vehicle-based FT is more likely to go BOOM! but a two-footed version is not.
 5.
quote:
Originally posted by Chad Harrison: ...you have now been promoted to SUPERted in my book! chad

Chad, Thanks. Does that mean I get the red boots that match my cape?
 6. Guys, I have been working on the details today. I'll start a new thread to make the official announcement once I have everything squared away. It should be sometime Sunday evening (GMT -6:00).
 7. FUTURE, I may be nutty, but I am neither grey-haired nor an inventor.
 8.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: ...So SuperTed, are the newbies having a tournament?...

Yes! <ducks and runs for cover>
 9. P-Man just makes 'em; he doesn't sell 'em.
 10. Panzerman is also tidying up things at The Scenario Zone before the snow flies.
 11. Stoffel, That will not be a problem. I would use scenarios instead of Quick Battles.
 12. Stoffel, That's a good idea too, and probably the simplest one for me. So, it is definitely worth consideration as well. Thanks. [ 12-01-2001: Message edited by: SuperTed ]

 13. TB155, Agreed. I don't want to get involved with a long, drawn-out event. So, I think the small scenarios will lend themselves to quick play. Triple-blind is having neither player knowing the scenario (prior to play) or their opponent (proir to AND during play).
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by Treeburst155: ...Nobody with member numbers under 6000 allowed...

Mike, That's not a bad idea. I am starting to lean in that direction. However, I need to sit down and hammer out some details before I can commit. I do know it would be small (no more than 16 participants AND scenarios no larger than "Small") and would include some of my whacky creations from over the last seventeen months. Also, I am toying with the mechanics of making it a triple-blind tournament. Stay tuned...
 15.
quote:
Originally posted by Chad Harrison: ...if you did this for us, that would promote you to super hero!...

Hmm, I already have the cape...
 16. Find out who the old familiar face is at FUTURE'S WARGAMING BATTLEFIELD.
 17.
quote:
Originally posted by Pvt. Ryan: ...I offer really good chocolate chip cookies...

With those and the rolls I'll never be in shape for World Cup 2002.
quote:
Originally posted by Pvt. Ryan: ...You really don't have much to do until around April, 2002...

Uh, that would be nice. [ 12-01-2001: Message edited by: SuperTed ]

 18.
quote:
Originally posted by Chad Harrison: ...BTW, if that didnt convince you, ill have my wife make you some of her cinnamon rolls. youll have to come to arizona for them, but it will be worth it.

Chad, That's tempting...
 19. Mike, Actually, those very experiences have proven educational for me. I would run a tourney like an a$$hole and take no $hit from anybody. If that doesn't get them wanting to join, nothing will!
 20. Guys, Let me throw out an idea here, please. It seems CG has gotten on people's nerves (including Matt's, which is never a good thing ). However, he has apologized and said he will play nice. There is no reason to believe he is being insincere. So, let's just call for a "Do Over!" and give the guy a chance.
 21. Guys, I am not going to promoise anything here, but........if you can convince me why I should do something as stoopid ( ) as running a tournament, I will CONSIDER doing it.
 22. LGMB, Head over to The Last Defense at http://www.angelfire.com/ak5/TheLastDefense/index.html
 23. 109 Gustav has put together a beauty of an update at The Last Defense.
