Hm, I must say I'm getting a little concerned that even though the end of round 1 is getting closer, the Newbie Reject results page still doesn't even show a score for the first game for my propospective opponent (Bobbaro or Vitalis.)

Perhaps the above-mentioned web page is simply out of date?

    voidhawk,

The page is up-to-date. I am currently in the process of determining exactly what the problem is and how best to deal with it. Don't worry; you'll have an oppoent in Round 2.

And here I thought there were 2 on each side of the road  ....as to the missing VP's, I was puzzled as well but there was that last minute attack into the rear of one of my opponent's VL...IIRC, he had slightly more casualties, our KIA was equal and he lost more FT than I did...(I think this last part accounts for the points difference)....

    DK,

Whoops! There are actually four flags. I guess I should pay attention to what I'm doing, eh? redface.gif

  3. Sgt. C.,

After you have loaded the game file, hit alt-S to save the game. Name the file whatever you'd like and then start again by hitting "Play Game." Find your save file on the list and load it. When you get to the "Choose Connection Type" screen, choose "TCP/IP" and you'll be ready to go!

During a TCP/IP game, you can hit alt-S to create a saved game file. I don't think you have a choice of what to name it, but I could be wrong. When you are ready to resume the game, you can choose TCP/IP, Email, or Hotseat.

    I hope that helps.

A Bridge Too Close sounds like it'll be a good ole tug-o-war.

So Ted, you positioning forces on opposite ends within each other's rifle sights on turn 1? tongue.gif

    VJ,

Actually, the entire map consists of a 100-metre long bridge. The scenario will be fought on it, ala Log Rolling!

Well, David's done his AAR, so I feel I should do mine. Here goes.

At first, I had no idea what troops I had, covered as they were by masses of trees. In the light of this, I decided to just give the standard order to push forward and see what I could find.

Unfortunately, though, David was well organised. He had set up his sharpshooters in strategic positions, where as I had just told everyone to push forward. I lost one of my squads, after David's organised group swept through. I never found out exactly who killed the boys, but I could very roughly guess from the sightings of possibly German infantry units nearby. After that, I decided to make straight for the edge of the map, because I had left sorting my men out till too late. David on the other hand took his time, making sure his most vulnerable troops got to his escape line first, his troops covering the rear.

I, on the other hand, waspushing forward too fast for my men. They quickly tired, and I tried desperately to just give them that extra nudge in the right direction. This caused them to tire even more, so almost all of my men staggered off the map. Once this was done, it ws a matter of making sure everyone still alive was off the map, then I sat back and waited.

...would you guys send me the game already? I ordered it over a month ago...

    BR,

You have waited too long. Send an email to matt@battlefront.com and he'll get you squared away. Be sure to include the order date, your real name, address, and form of payment when contacting Matt. He may need more information, but that will be a good start.

Hi there. I'm a newbie who doesn't even have the game yet. I've been playing the demo over and over for about a month and a half. Hopefully the full game will arrive on my doorstep in the next week or so. Eventually I'll probably want to get into a match, but I only have a 56k modem. How do you set up your tournaments? Will my modem slow me down too much? Is there a site I can go to that has any pertinent info about this?

    BR,

Welcome to the best online community in the world! :D

Your 56k modem will not be a problem. The vast majority of scenarios in this tournament are played via PBEM and most of the sceanrios are small. So, you probably will not be attaching files larger than 500 kb very often (if ever).

Your question about how I set up tournaments is a bit vague. I would be happy to answer any slightly more specific questions you have.

For the current Newbie tournaments, all the slots are filled. If you would be interested in getting on the waiting list, feel free to email me at tedquincey@yahoo.com .

This BBS has a forum for several areas. Feel free to visit them all to get pertinent information and to ask any questions you might have. There are many helpful people here and I am sure all of your questions will be answered.

    Again, welcome!

I've been looking for the AARs from the tournament in YankeeDog's Tourney AAR thread and in both of SuperTed's Newbie Tournament threads. SuperTed has something like 44 guys who have completed Blind Man's Bluff, and I've counted 7 AARs. And 5 of the 7 are from SuperNewbies like me. Can some more of the players (especially the "more experienced" Garden Variety Newbies and Newbie Rejects) players post AARs so this humble SuperNewbie can learn from their vast wisdom? tongue.gif

I think one of Ted's reasons for starting the tournament is for the learning experience. So tell us how you managed to win gloriously, lose miserably, or tie like I did in Blind Man's Bluff.

    Yeah, what he said! ;)

    Ted,

White4 and me are playing your "Blood'n'Steel" scenario while we are waiting for our next challenge.

At turn #4 we haven't still any contact. My soldiers are very nervous. His vehicles starts to be low on fuel and there are no enemies in sight.

Are there any Gas Station? :D

    Leta,

Don't worry; there will be plenty of carnage in due time. Then, the last of your worries will be fuel. ;)
