  1. Hi Guys, I am having some serious email problems, as most of you have probably surmised. I hope the problem is resolved quickly. I'll let you know when I am ready to roll. SuperTed
  2. My dance card is full. Thanks guys. SuperTed
  3. Oh, yeah. Double-blind is a must! SuperTed
  4. I could use another opponent (or two). I prefer scenarios and operations, but would never turn down a Quick Battle. Any takers? tedquincey@yahoo.com SuperTed
  5. It turned out to be a problem with DirectX. Thanks for the input. SuperTed
  6. Wendell, Thanks, that did the trick! Ted
  7. When I attempted to begin playing CM (via the program list in the "Start" menu), I received an "Unhandled Exception" message. I tried re-installing the game, but recieved the message again. I even tried to start the game by clicking the icon on the CD. I again received the same message. Any ideas? Thanks. Ted

  9. So, I decided to present my opponent with three light armor targets at about 500 meters for his medium armor. As I'm watching the replay, I discover that the AI employs a targeting practice that is not quite right. I watch the medium tank move from its cover and immediately target one of my light targets. As expected, the enemy tank fires. What is amazing is that he then targets my other light tank before his shell arrives to destroy his first target. How did he know he would get a kill? This procedure is repeated and all three targets are currently warming the neighborhood. Any thoughts? SuperTed
  10. Hey DK, Yes, you are correct! There are indeed cheats available for Combat Mission! However, you must follow these very specific instructions: 1) Go to your local computer software store, 2) Purchase Close Combat I-IV, and 3) Enjoy! SuperTed
  11. Rob, When I receive a PBEM file, I just leave it on my desktop so it is easy to find when I need to load it. As for loading the PBEM file, hit the "Join Multiplayer" button on the initial CM screen. Then, hit the "Load E-Mail" button. You will be presented with a window that allows you to find the file you want to load. When you find your file, load it and enter your password. Voila! Good luck! SuperTed
  12. Hey Rob, Let me see if I can help. 1. Set up game like normal, choosing "email" option and a password. 2. Player 1 positions units and sends file to player 2. 3. Player 2 positions units and sends file to player 1. 4. Player 1 plots moves and sends file to Player 2. 5. Player 2 plots moves and sends file to Player 1. 6. Player 1 views Action Phase and sends file to Player 2. 7. Player 2 views action Phase, plots moves, and sends file to Player 1. 8. Player 1 plots moves and sends file to Player 2. 9. Player 2 views Action Phase and sends file to Player 1. 10. Player 1 views Action Phase, plots moves, and sends file to Player 2. And so on... I hope that helps. SuperTed
  13. Okay, now I feel like an idiot. I guess my question has been answered. Thanks. SuperTed
  14. If it is an Assault, would the computer spend more than 1000 points? I thought the limit was 1000. SuperTed
  15. Hi All, I have stumbled across something that is causing me great concern. I currently supect an opponent of cheating and I desperately want to prove that my concerns are without merit. We are playing a PBEM Quick Battle in November, 1944. Things started perfectly normal, but then I started to notice some troubling developements around turn 8 or 9. That is the point at which my opponent's armor began to appear en masse! So far, I have counted 13 pieces of armor (including 1 halftrack). The reason that got my attention is that I have 3 pieces of armor (including 2 halftracks). In addition to his armor, my opponent also has at least a full company of infantry. When armor piece #13 arrived on the scene, I decided to do some math to see if maybe the computer did a poor job of purchasing units for me. The points are in parentheses. My force consists of: 1 Heavy Weapons Company (550), 1 Rifle 44 Platoon (120), 1 MMG (18), 1 M4A3(76)W Sherman (167), 2 M3A1 Halftracks (68), 2 Barbed Wire (30), 1 Daisy-Chain Antitank Mines (15), and 2 Antipersonnel Mines (30). The total points spent by the computer is 998. I was quite impressed that the computer only wasted 2 points. I probably would not have done as well myself. Then, I decided to determine how much the computer spent on my opponent's armor, since my troops have identified so much. His armor force consists of: 3 Panther Pz VG (603), 2 StuH42-late (184), 1 Jagdpanzer IV (122), 3 StuG-III-late (270), 2 Hetzers (150), 1 Marder III-late (51), and 1 SPW 251/1 (39). The total points spent by the computer is 1419! This total does NOT include the company (at least) of infantry support and anything else my troops have not seen. Is there any reasonable explanation for this? I would like to think there is, but I cannot find one. I don't want to accuse somebody of cheating because we are all presumably playing this game to have fun. However, I really don't feel that somebody should be having fun at the expense of somebody else. I would greatly appreciate a LOT of feedback on this because I don't want to make a rash decision here. Thank you all in advance. SuperTed (feeling SuperScrewed)
  16. Thanks for the response. My PBEM card is now full. SuperTed "No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!"
  17. One clarification: I would also prefer to play double-blind. SuperTed "The only reason he's standing is because you nailed him to the perch."
  18. Battle #1 and proceeded to set up our units for Battle #2, a night battle. When my opponent sent his (British) set-up, the end-of-battle screen appeared and said that 2 out of 12 battles were complete. Would there be a reason why Battle #2 would not have been fought? Thanks for your help. SuperTed
  19. I am in the process of playing a PBEM of the Utrechtsewg operation and ran into something rather odd. My opponent and I finished Battle #1 and proceeded to set up our units for Battle #2, a night battle. When my opponent sent his (British) set-up, the end-of-battle screen appeared and said that 2 out of 12 battles were complete. Would there be a reason why Battle #2 would not have been fought? Thanks for your help. SuperTed
  20. I prefer scenarios, but am perfectly happy to play QB. tedquincey@yahoo.com SuperTed "He's not dead. He's pining for the fjords."
  21. Tom, I'm no expert, but I have done a bit of research in this area. Your Celeron should be fine, but you definitely want to upgrade your graphics card to at least 16 mb and your RAM to at least 128. With that, you'll notice a huge improvement. I hope that helps. SuperTed
  22. Smack, I know of no other game in which I can experience all the following emotions over the course of a battle/scenario: What's really amazing is that the above sequence was experienced while playing against the AI! Your money will be well-spent. SuperTed
  23. Good idea, Mike! Correct me if I am wrong, but I assume you would like to see something similar to what was done in Squad Leader. To take it one step further, you could even list the historic "scores" and make quantitative comparisons. SuperTed Help! Help! I'm being repressed!
  24. This might sound dumb, but.......where is the PC control panel for the video card and DirectX? I would like to "enable fog table emulation." Thanks. SuperTed
  25. I (using Explorer 5) have attempted to email my set-up to my opponent (using Netscape). I use the standard procedure (save to PBEM folder, open email, attach to email, send) that has worked fine with another opponent. In this case, however, I am told that the set-up text is found only in the body of the email, NOT as as attachment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. SuperTed
