1. Very informative MAJOR TOM. I guess the whole point of the topic was, I didn't think knowing the outcome of WWII would be beyond a US service member, or any service member for that matter. I can understand not knowing some or most of the detail we discuss here. But to not know the outcome! It's not like she didn't know when D DAY was. For gods sake, she didn't know the outcome of WWII! Is this the trend of all youth? ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 2. Yes, the running and walking was one of the most enjoyable animations of the movie. I was really impressed with the FACES of the infantry guy's. They appear to have the 5 O'clock shadow or they are faily dirty. They really look mean, and pissed off. Compared to that cartoonish look in the beta. Nice improvement. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 3. Hmmm, thats a good question. I was just playing LD last knight and ordered a sqaud to crawl around 30m into the open, right up next to the tiger. They did it! And survived! Anyway, I think they started to automatically target the tiger at about 15m. At about the 5m point the tiger lowered it's main gun and.......WHAM, the sqaud broke and hauled ass. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by MantaRay: UMMMM, that was not a war, and we did not get smoked. I know as I was there. So maybe your soldiers should ask someone else about military history there partner. Ray

If you noticed..... I said it depends what you want to consider a war. And sorry if I hurt your feelings.......... But, we did get smoked. Your Unit may not have, but, overall, the US ran out of there shooting over thier shoulder. I'd say that's a smoking. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 5. Ponder this............. At work today, one of my younger female soldiers asked me "how many wars the US has been in." Not thinking anything by the question I replied, "well private, I'm not really sure, but it has been quite alot depending on what you consider a WAR." Then............ "Oh......well.....do you know how many wars the US has lost?" "That's hard to say.....we probably lost the Vietnam war....and...we got smoked pretty bad in Mogadishu." Then, serious as hell without a flinch in her voice or face............ "What about WWI and WWII? Did we lose in those? Not sure wheather to smile or explode...... With an eye brow raised "NOOOOOOOO, we did not lose in WWI or WWII. Now, go and get to work." And we are wondering about potato smashing grenades! This is not the priority of todays youth. Is this a good thing or a bad thing......... I'm still wondering. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all

Ya know, so maybe peoeple can talk smack back and forth, or look for challengers. And do you have the URL for the hunt52 site? Thanks. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 9.
quote:
Originally posted by Fionn: Hell, I test CM on a 333 Mhz AMD. You all are making me feel ancient.

Hey, this is by no means ancient. I'm barely one step ahead of you with my P-400. But some people feel thier P-166 can hang in there anaother year.......C'mon, get rid of that GEM. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all

 11. Madmatt and Fionn. That CMHQ you guy's put together is the shiznit! Is that where the ladder games will be played? Or is that hunt52's site? If it's hunt52's site, does anyone have the url? ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 12. I hope graphics are not being sacraficed so CM can be played on my old grandpa's 486. Games drive the hardware industry! If we want good graphical games, people got to fork out the bucs for the hardware, it's that simple. BTS, hit my CPU all you want to. If it can't take the heat, I upgrade til it does. The gamers holding out on old ass hardware shouldn't be driving this train! ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 13.
quote:
Originally posted by Sgt.Morgue: It seems like a lot of people are looking at this as just another release

Ya, I looked at it like this for the longest, until I was reading thru the ABOUT column. That's what I'm getting at though. The market is so pumped up with the NEW and BIGGER and BETTER ****, that I don't think an average gamer would be interested in CM if he finds out about it when it's 1 year old. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 14. Personally, I got a big boner look'n at that fire. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 15. I don't see how people would be interested in a game over 1 year old. You know, someone is alway's pushing the new stuff into our face. Someone would really have to understand the type of marketing BTS is trying to do and how they feel thier product should be presented to sell for full price after 6 months. I personally have never purchased a game over 3 months old. I read the preview, get hyped, watch it go gold, read some reviews and make the purchase. It's like any other retail product, the minute you buy it, it's out of date. But hopefully with CM all that is about to change.......... ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 16. I have alway's been highly impressed with the FINISH army during WWII. The stellar soldiers and leadership they had. The Soviets lost more soldiers in 6 months trying to invade Finland than the whole US Army lost in the entire Vietnam war! Out of all the information I read on the Mannerhiem line and the RUSSO-FINISH war, I have never really heard of any great Finish Generals. Could use some help here........ Enlighten me. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all

Humor takes many forms, here, lately... comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.war-historical is a (the) Usenet newsgroup devoted, more or less, to historical wargames for the PC.

Oh.... OK, got it now. I never spent to much time on news groups. They really get on my nerves. No moderations, All the bitching and whining back and forth, trolls, etc. That's why I didn't know. I have really been out of touch with historical war gaming for quite some time now. The last I palyed was TALON SOFT, BG ANTIETAM, before that was ASL the board game. And hell...that was 4 may be 5 years ago. Hopefully, CM can get me caught up quickly, along with all the other smart people here. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 18.
quote:
Originally posted by Major Tom: I think, when the reviews for the finished version of CM are in and the high praise that the game will recieve (Possibly some 100% ratings) Too many people are sick of buying unplayable games with little replay value. We as individuals cannot do anything other than to tell people we know about the game.

Possibly, especially in GAME PLAY and REPLAY VALUE. You got that right. I bought ULTIMA ASCENSION, the game was so buggy, ORIGIN released 3 patches and eventually sent all registered buyers a whole brand new INSTALL CD. Talk obout alot of pissed off people... I have full confidence in BTS. I will tell as many as possible. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all

 20. I was sad to see the last thread closed, although some people were getting hateful. Anyway...I just happened to stumble upon a link to Battle Front when I was looking to buy a new WAR GAME. Digging thru link after link, it's a miracle I found out about it. It sure doesn't get much Preview hype any where. You can't even find the game on most gaming sites! I guess that has to do with the what BTS talks about in the INDUSTRY column. Basically, I want WAR GAMERS to know about this game, and what BTS is doing for us. This game should apeal to any war gamer, not just the hardcore. It will benefit us all for more people to know obout CM. It surely can't hurt. And I'm sure the bigger turn in profit for BTS, the more excited about CM2 or 3 they will get. I don't have any special suggestions, but I just post URL's and any other information about the game on all strategy game sites I visit. Hopefully, togehter, CM will get a huge fan base. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
 21. Hmm..... Looks like I will have to start spreading the word about CM to some of my buddies. Username. You are right about the 25th(L). But they have 1st BDE here at FT Lewis. Currently, we are getting ready to break away from the 25th and become our own autonomous BDE, called The Brigade Combat Team. Some of you might have heard about it. We will transorm the way the Army fights wars. Similar to Force 21 at FT Hood, but we will be medium build. No tanks, for some reason the genrals feel tanks are a thing of the past in future wars. They want a BDE that can deploy anywhere in the world within 96 hours, all equipment and vehicle can load onto a C-130, something that is lethal on the battle field, but can move with lightning speed. And last, they don't want to spend alot of money with the up keep of the BCT. At least not as much as it takes to up keep a heavey tank BDE. The BDE wil mainly concist of LAV III's and will have an ANTI-ARMOR company in each Battalion. That is alot of ANTI-ARMOR compared to what we have now, one Company for the whole BDE. But on the other hand, it's alot less for a heavy BDE with M1A1's. Well thats us, and we will transform with another BDE here on FT Lewis from the 2nd IN DIV. One light, one heavey. I just hope when it's all over we don't get our asses handed to us in some 3rd world country. Hopefully, I will be retired by then. ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all

 24. Oh.. but we need the "kinder-gentler" Army to win wars. You know it just don't look right if you yell and cuss at soldiers on the battle field these day's! ------------------ Better to make the wrong decision than be the sorry son of a bitch to scared to make one at all
