  1. The problem with AI is that humans are unpredictable. How is BTS going to tackle the AI question? Even with fuzzy logic, having only one AI model is still somewhat limiting. I was thinking to myself in bed last night, that maybe you guys can model 5 odd virtual commanders that have different weightings for different strategies. This makes sense, since it would be like fighting against different commanders. As opposed to just having one AI "style". CCJ
  2. Subjectively I've always thought the 88 was a better gun, but I guess I'm wrong now But it seems the 88 on the Tiger is not the same thing as the 88 on the Flak 88 CCJ
  3. WHat does the 'L' designation stand for ? Muzzle velocity? ie 88 L/56 CCJ
  4. I'm led to believe it has 2 USB ports for keyboards, mouse, modem etc and 2 Firewire ports (whatever the apple highspeed port is called). Admitly the developer kit is not cheap, just that to get that sort of horsepower from a PC is so expensive. I own a Playstation and am appalled at the lack of strategy games. There are a lot of japanese ones but not much else. Civilisation 2 is good, or yeah there is Panzer General 2 Maybe one day you could license a conversion to Sony KwazyDog > I could be wrong, but after working in the 3D animation industry for some time I think that statement is too good to be true Well i heard George Lucas commenting about how they had computers running 48 hours a day just to render one scene and wished he had a playstation 2 to do the job Lol , rememeber the PS2 is 128 bit and running at 350 mhhtz, and without bulky Windows. Pentiums aren't even 64 bit yet (I may be wrong), well Windows definitely ain't I have seen some real time renders from the Ps2, and I'm very impressed, its just like FMV. CCJ
  5. Hey BTS Have you guys considered porting the game over to the playstation 2? This machine is a beast with 3D graphics and would allow you to make the ultimate version of CM. How does 6 gigaflops sound Apparently it can render ToyStory in realtime at 60 fps! Oooerr that's what I call muscle. CCJ
  6. Which gun is better, the Large cailbre 88 from the Tiger or the high velocity 75mm from the Panther in CM? CCJ

  9. Fionn, I'll have to reserve my judgement until after the beta demo comes out Arghhh - just thinking about it makes me sick, as in "lovesick" ;( I can't even write any music at the moment....and more so when it comes out! Lol CCJ
  10. Will there be any secret super units to try for fun, seems most games have something like that, that the programmers chucked in to amuse themselves CCJ
  11. Buildings with soldiers in them are represented by taking the top and walls off. Which makes them look a bit exposed, even if they aren't in reality. Any chances of using transparent walls with just the roof off? Like the depiction of the second story floor. I personally feel this to be more in tune with the rest of the game's graphics. CCJ

ANother idea I had, was to allow the export of each sides turns for the whole game(without movies), so people can download complete games and generate the movies on their own system.   16. yeah I think that's fine with the pause, as long as we can save a library of our most glorious Battles! :0 BTW how big are the replay files? Its just mainly data I assume, since CM does all the graphics on th fly - if so they would be relatively small. This bodes well, for an on-line area to upload the best battle movies CCJ

In this case , (something I noticed in the Panzer Elite demo as well) the tanks just cresting the hill will have their belly exposed and they won't be able to lower their guns enough to target you AT/Tanks lying in wait. Do you have belly shots and will the inability to lower the guns (for a small period of time) be simulated? CCJ
  23. One of the fave tricks the Russians used, and mine in CC3 is a reverse hill slope deployment and hence ambush. This is particularly deady, since the enemy can't see you until he's at the top of the hill, and when he is, his troops/tanks are nicely silouetted against the sky ! Will this tatic be as devastating in CM? CCJ
  24. Hi Martin you stated you wanted to take the town pretty quickly, which is why I didn't know why you would not use one Sherman to support the advance against the town. The Sherman would supply a mobile fire and suppression base. The 3 remaing Shermans, would still delay The Geramns long enough, while the SHerman supported attack on the town would most likely finish a bit quicker. CCJ
  25. After looking at that PBeM game on the Gmaers net, I noticed all the Pine trees in the forested area are all the same height. I know it would be more work, but maybe more realistic with slight height variation between each pine tree. CCJ
