  1. Why Vehicles Need a Hold Fire Order!

I'm moving a Stryker up to a building to off load some infantry, who's job it is to go to the roof, and shoot the tanks down the road with their ATM's. Instead one of the enemy tanks down the street moves but doesn't see my units, then my Stryker opens fire with a 12.7mm gun against a T-72 Tank, which then turns, fires and kills not only the Stryker, but also 2/3 of the infantry which were dismounting. The Stryker would have gotten away if it didn't open fire and was dumb, dumb, dumb because there is no way in hell your gona take out a T72 with a 12.7 MG.

If anything it should have held fire and popped smoke. I really wish Shock Force had Tac Ops type orders so you could tell a unit what to do when it sees the enemy but, I'll settle for a hold fire order!!! ;)

    Not your imagination!

    Metalbrew,

Correct. The ability for non Syrian FO units to call in artillery fire was a bug. They use the old Soviet centralized system and nobody gets the sort of training necessary to call in fire excepted for the specialized FOs. So combine restrictive doctrine, with limited training, and poor C2... you get pretty limited artillery usage.

I think this only shows once again the need for on map mortars. Local mortars are likly the only Arty Syrians in a small tactical battle would have and little else after a week of US air strikes and counter battery fire.
  3. Some Additional Items

Stop soliders from getting up to kneel when reloading weapons, this just kills snipers.

Weapons should be loaded when the solider are prone.

A random chance of repair of vehicle damage, to simulate minor repairs.

Weapons Carrier/Supply truck, I would really like to be able to resupply my troops on the field.

Glad to see this game getting the support it deserves!!

    Thanks

  4. Microsoft issues significant fix for Vista graphics memory overflows.

    Info

    http://arstechnica.com/news.ars/post/20070829-microsoft-issues-fix-for-vista-graphics-memory-overflows.html

Testing by AnandTech showed that the hotfix significantly reduced the memory footprint of games, by an average of about 400MB per game (when equipped with a 768MB GeForce 8800 GTX). However, even after the fix was applied, games still took up about 180MB more than when they were run on the same hardware under Windows XP, an indication of Vista's higher resource requirements. Adding the fix dropped most games safely under the 2GB limit, but with games such as Supreme Commander still taking up 1,580MB it is clear that the next generation of games may start to run into the barrier again.

  5. I created a scenario with three objectives and three different groups, each asigned to one of the objectives, yet they all seem to end up at the objective with the biggest value. I can't tell if they go there an just aren't staying or not going there at all. If I assign static units located at the objective they stay there, but can't seem to get units to move to an objective and the stay there.

I really wish there was and AI vs AI Hotseat mode so you could watch how the AI carriers out it's plan.

  6. When I saw units not following their plotted path I always thought it was responding to some threat on the map. It's now clear even with no threats, units just don't follow the paths plotted. They move to new plotted point before they complete turning to the path.

It looks like the Eric Young school of drunk tank driving smile.gif

    Nice going RedWolf!

I think I got them from the supply platoon, that's one thing I hate in TO&E from the unit purchase sceen you can't tell what units have what weapons. Most Humvees you give a unit an open hatch order, if it has a second guy, he will man the MG on the roof.
