Is there a Gamecholics anonymous? Are there any support groups around? Can BTS be sued for damages due to divorces? My wife recommended giving 311's wife credit card with preferable low limit and sending her shopping.

I am also waiting for CM2. East front will be my favorite! I love playing russians. I managed to stop human opponent just one map before Moscow and slaughtered him too. It is fun to play CC3 against another human. By the way german tank was probably immobilized and therefore not able to escape. See - if I play against human - the human tell tank to escape and use infantry instead.

Russian 1941 AT rifles - could these kill Panzer III? I am playing CC3 and 40 ATR shots at Panzer III from a distance of 10 meters just killed 2 crew members. It just does not feel right. I read somewhere ATRs were affective to 500 meters. But they seem to be useless at 10 meters. Can someone please tell me just how effective ATRs were? Whats that webpage again? -
In languages such as Polish, Russian, Greek every letter (or 2 letter combination) has a sound associated with it. In these languages you can read any word correctly by sounding the letters out. (Please pardon my spelling

CM is not really infantry game. Pacific war was mainly infantry. Rarely AFV were used.

It makes perfect sense to me. Finally spelling would make sense.

Sun and it effects on battle (No Sun in CM?)
crossfire replied to killmore's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
It not enought that germans are better in the morning (americans don't like to get up that early), You want them to have yet another advantage due to rising sun? NO WAY! -

Survey: Keep improving graphics or release as is?
crossfire replied to killmore's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
To some of you guys: Survey is asking your opinion, whether you think graphics are sufficent. So no need for another "I support BTS" statement. IHMO graphics are good enough for CM1. To attract larger crowd BTS would need to put a LOT more work into soldiers, bodies, buildings, holes in buildings/tanks, real time and so on. Smoke/fire will not be probably enough to sell much more CM1 games. IHMO graphics are good enough for release. Basically I think that improving graphics should not hold up the release The more graphic effects the more bugs due to poor drivers. -
I don't see a point to Warsaw uprising mission. What are you suppose to defend Warsaw with? They had nothing really usefull against tanks. Since germans could just blowup building after building, there was no simple way to get close to the tanks to use molotovs...

Front line for 100 players
crossfire replied to killmore's topic in Combat Mission Archive #1 (1999)
Good somebody (PanzerLeader) agreed that he/she wants to change history. Berlin in June - that is a measure of success! And why not? That all you could achieve in CC1... -

So you are saying that the purpose for german commander is to have the best german battalion slaughtered in May 1945? -

Are u saying that without being forced to loose a game/campain as germans you cannot enjoy the game? Does realism means to you that allies must win the war? That sounds like CC3 to me. All games like that are fundamentally broken. I can simply escape from all engagements in CC3 are still win the war as Red Army. Where is the fun in that? What is the point of loosing my men ? Why bother? Games seem to force you to play when you have even chances to win. But thats not always true. Someone mentioned that it is hard to find historical engagements where both sides had even chances. TRUE! See I want an unpredictable game where sometimes you just slaughter the other side other time you will get nailed badly. No games with predifined path will ever do that. But with "unrealistic" front line, and hundreds of player with different equipment and size of forces it will be possible. And no I don't want PG (mainly due to graphics). I would not mind a PG-1 like front line! Realism is NOT equal to FUN -

I don't see why people oppose it so much. Heck - I don't mind even Normandy-Berlin "abstraction". It seems to me that too many times I hear "Unrealistic" on this board as an excuse. Common we need fun too! Pure simulations tend to be dry and boring and they don't sell well. Realism does not sell as many games as fun factor. I love the idea even if it would take away some reality out of the game. We can argue all day about what is and not realistic and people have done it before. Extremely accurate simulations appeal to very few players and therefore just don't sell well. Think of the profit guys. Accounts of Ultima online sell for thousands! Think what account of general would sell for
