  1. Another idea would be to make the black line a broken line ( - - - ) and leave the red line solid. citizen
  2. Camping in CC was easy as the maps were so small you never HAD to move to be in range. CM maps are larger, so your deployment zone will most likely not be in LoS of your opponent. CM will end the fight if no one is shooting or making significant movement. In that case, the defender holds the victory locations and will win. I'm sure it will come as a shock to some... To all scenario designers: Please make your maps larger than 500m x 500m. I hate the small CC maps. citizen (Personally not designing any maps less than 1k x 1k...)
  3. Will I be able to design and play on a map that has no victory locations? Can I make a secret "exit zone" set up on the edge of the map or will the player always know an exit zone exists? citizen (The wheels are turning...)
  4. I had the same problem. I played for weeks at 640 x 480 (and was still recommending the game to everyone I know). After seeing Fionn's US Tank column versus 88s screenshots on TGN, I decided to investigate. I went to my Program Files, then into a the Direct X folder. Inside that was a Direct X Setup icon. Clicking on that immediately brought up a box giving me the option to turn on Direct 3D Acceleration Hardware. Not sure why it was off, but after switching it to on, I'm now playing at 1152 x 864. Smooth as silk. Panning across the fields is incredible. Feels like I'm in Luke's Landspeeder. citizen
  5. It sounds to me like the new Hide will not be compatible with the old "Target-Hide" order. Since the new Hide will be a serious "no shuffling around or poking your head up" Hide, then pre-targeting should not be possible. To track a unit as is done with the current Target-Hide, that takes a bit of peeking. In a FoW situation where neither side has spotted the other, I would hope that the Hide would be broken by "Sound Contact" of the advancing enemy. Prone is not a good hand-to-hand combat stance. citizen
  6. I'll be around all Thurs - Sun loyalcitizen@home.com Seattle, WA PS: I haven't played "Chance" as Germans, yet. Don't know what that really means.
  7. I would guess that your Hellcat didn't spot a hidden squad with some anti-tank weapons to get a "hull penetration" hit like that. Remember, if you haven't spotted the unit, you WON'T (to borrow the caps-lock for a second) see a targeting line from the unit to your tank. Good FoW !! So while the HT was firing (you no doubt saw its target line), the HT didn't get that kill. citizen
  8. I would say BTS learned what *not* to do from Close Combat and Atomic. Combat Mission will not be on the shelves of your local software store (unless the owner buys a few off the web and resells them...not likely). It is only available through this website. Mac version, too. citizen
  9. I for one like FOW, surprises, and the unexpected in battle as much as tactical maneuvering and fighting. I would suggest to BTS and other scenario/campaign designers to label their creations with something that would indicate the "more interesting" side. Or indicate which side is going to face the most "surprises." Anyone who first played Last Defense as the US didn't get to feel the terror of the 3 unexpected Hellcats. Switching to then play the Germans, one can't help but look at the hill around turn 9 to prepare. Fixed minefields and hidden pillboxes just won't be the same if we play your scenario from the defending side first. A simple tag line like "Play as G 1st" would suffice. Naturally, this tag is intended for solo play. Seeing that tag on the PBEM scenario you are about to play wouldn't give too much away, but would cause a bit of paranoia. Or it could be a way for a "good" player to give a newbie a chance. citizen
