  1. thx for the info. For those that were interested, CMMOS is a program that assists in loading MODS and there is a link in the FAQ at the top of the Forum threads.
  2. Has anyone undertaken an effort to make a GUI program which lets CM users quickly add and or remove MODS? I don't know if anyone is famliar with Falcon 4.0 but fans of that game have made a Patch program that lets users define and change many aspects of the game. Such a small program would be invaluable for CM owners since there are tons and tons of MODS. I would think the fundamentals of the program would be to copy files downloaded and unzipped to specified dirctories ( named by the user to represent the MOD maker for example) to the various directories with options for backing up the directories and returning them to the original state. Being able to see what MODS are currently installed via text or info files supplied with MODS would make for clarity. Has this effort been considered before? 3. that's good news, will do ASAP. CMBO was perfect but the CMBB disk was scratched.. wouldn't install in my CD RW drive, worked in the DVD drive tho. Still I'd like to not have to deal with CD's, I remember Virtual CD programs I used in W95, was wondering if anything new is going around.
  4. can someone suggest a program or tip so I don't need to have the CD in the PC to run the game? Mine came new with a big scratch on it and I don't want to degrade it anymore than it is ( only works in one of my CDrom drives)
  5. something's not right if your video card is using IRQ 5, should be using IRQ's at 10 or above. If it were me I would be considering moving hardware around (PCI slots) and even a new OS install.
  6. MAsta, I only just got CM yesterday and am currently just trying to get it working and learning how to play, so I can't give a detailed assesment...sorry :-( Regarding the sound: it's great! regarding EAX...I don't know if CM has any EAX configuration sent with it. I imagine one could create a custom config but I personally won't bother with that. Now without disabling the Audigy and enabling my onboard sound, which is 5.1 also, I can't give a comparison, but without question I am sure the Audigy 2 smokes my on board Abit sound chip ( AT7 MAX2 ) Regarding the ATI CP and audigy issue...the problem seems to be inconsistent...depends on sytem stats ( motherboard/chipsets )so you may not have a problem. I never did get any substantive help from ATI tech support and have done hours of troubleshooting on my own, but the ATI CP crashes with the Audigy drivers in. I've done multiple system formats, OS and driver sequence installs and PCI slot placements to try to work it out and gave up.. my next graphics card will NOT be an ATI product Thanks for the tip Wardogz. I've also got a 9700 Pro, and was thinking of getting an Audigy, but now it seems otherwise. So u can't use both CP and Audigy? And does the EAX and all those other settings you use in the Audigy card effect CMBB much? DOes it help to enrich the sound experience? Thanks </font>
  7. I have the 5.1 Creative Inspire speaker system also and am using a SB Audigy 2 card. The sound is very sweet for a PC ( my Onkyo 6 channel surround whoops it's butt horribly tho but I had alot of problems with my Audigy conflicting with my ATI Radeon card. Wasn't any resource conflicts at all just trying to use my ATI Control Panel with the audigy drivers installed ( ATI CP crashes instantly ) after spending nealy $45 on ATI's useless tech support, I said screw it! I set my ATI CP settings up then install the audigy drivers.
  8. A couple things you may need to know. The ATI cards are picky cards. They work differently in different systems. I've run ATI cards from the pre 7200's right up to my current 9700pro and I also run Nvidia's. The ATI's have given me MUCH more problems and the 9700 is still not working as I hoped ( been in my Abit system over a year) And the big problem is the lack of support. You get a month or 2 of complimentary tech support from your first call and then you have to pay ALOT. Buying ATI cards means you'll basically be left out on your own to figure out how to get it to work and with it's notorious driver/hardware problems, you'll likey be sorry you got it. 9. After using this new message board format I've decided not to come back untill it's redone, if, it's redone. It was totally frustrating having to load EACH topic and ALL of it's threads and scroll through the WHOLE list of EVERY text just to try to get to the singular thread that interested me...which happens to be the comments BTS makes in response to topic threads. In the past when I followed BTS comments, you could get the jist of the thread from the copied text they replied to as well their most important responses, then if it interested me I would go back and read the poster's comments...you guys really screwed the pooch on this one. As for me the next time I learn anything regarding CM will be when Combat Simulations puts out an article that it has been released or the alert email BTS sends me periodically. I won't be returning to this message board anymore I had 3 quick bookmarks on my Netscape Personal Toolbar one of which was this BTS message forum which I checked almost daily. It's very disappointing that I should loose this place that held so much interest to me for so long. My feelings regarding the change is a loud and definate BOOOO!
  10. Please return to the other message board format. The other format was very easy to follow being able to browse the topics quicker and follow the threads that interested us most, MUCH easier! Now we have to open every header just to see who has responded and what they say...this new message board format has totally ruined it for me. It is not pleasant to manipulate this new message board format. VERY inconvenient. You didn't have to go around and change things, tell the webmaster everything was just fine. We didn't need anything new. I hope you will return to the original format. I totally dissapprove of this and find it very discouraging...
