  6. FYI, there will be three TT 2003 games tonight: Whoever feels like observing a few games of scenarios 1 and 2 (Nick Moran, tourney winner 1999 will perform, also Wolfgang Drotleff who so far holds the scen 2 record with 350 points), the start times are 1900, 2100 and 2300 (last is an educated guess as we dont really know how long this second game will take) GMT respectively. Check out the Calendar page for details. 7. FYI: With 4 games played out this weekend we have first results in. You may want to check out the Standings Page ( http://www.eventfoto.com/privat/mil/tourney2003/standings.html ) to see how this reflects in the groups. Game files to replay the games are availiable for non-players on request to <tourney2003@eventfoto.com> (a poll within the players had decided that we will not publish all the game files until all games of the elimination round are played out). More games are scheduled for this week and the coming weekend, ppl who want to observe check out the Calendar Page at http://www.eventfoto.com/privat/mil/tourney2003/cal.html to see who plays and when. Kind regards, Rattler
  8. Gentlemen, due to one player in Group D (check http://www.eventfoto.com/privat/mil/tourney2003/standings.html ) having dropped from the roster for RL obligations and since no games have been played in this group yet a slot for participation in the TacOps 2003 tourney has become available again. For all info about the tourney go to the TacOps Tourney 2003 Main Page at http://www.eventfoto.com/privat/mil/tourney2003/main.html Any application please send to <tourney2003@eventfoto.com> Kind regards, Rattler

    Observers

For the 192 Net Games for TT 2003 observers are very much welcome. People who want to observe the tourney netgames may want to bookmark the TacOps Tourney Scheduled Games Calendar at: http://www.eventfoto.com/privat/mil/tourney2003/cal.html or click the "Calendar" button on the TacOps Tourney Main page to check whether there is a game to observe at a given time. On the Calendar Page you find the scheduled tourney games (first game is scheduled, for NOV 1) sorted by month, date, time, groups, scenarios, etc. Hope to see many observers, Kind regards, Rattler
  10. The TacOps Tourney 2003 (TT 2003) has officially started today. The Tourney will try to establish the best overall TacOps player in a series of net games and PBM games, you can get all relevant information about procedures and standings off the main TT 2003 page . Rattler
  11. Folks, just FYI: The TacOps tourney has finished recruiting (reserve list open, if a player drops out before actual start the reserves - in order of subscription move in), the actual Player Roster TT 2003 is open for inspection: 32 Players have signed up. If you are interested in what way the groups are played out and ho the results are presented, check out the graphic I posted to the same page a little higher. Rattler
  12. Hi, Erik! Sorry for that post´s tone, I get easily mad at computers if or when they refuse to execute what I think is a sensible command...:-> Why not post your Questionaire to the TacOps list, might be interesting to hear what ppl there have to say and I might be tempted to invest another hour...:-> Sorry for any inconvinience caused, Rattler
  13. Latest news: We have been able to win one of the most distinguished personalities of the TacOps community as referee: James Sterrett will take the job, with all his experience as umpire in many a CPX and in the current MBX we could wish for none better. Also, up to now 29 players have committed to the tourney, that way past the old record of 17. Check out the Roster Page to see who will be taking part or go to Tourney Main Page to get all other info or to subscribe. Kind regards, Rattler
  14. Folks, now that everything is ready and set for "Go!" at the Tourney Page we are getting serious: People interested to participate in the TacOps Tourney 2003 (after carefully studying the Gameplan, the Rules and the Scenarios) should not hesitate to subscribe to it by sending an email to <tourney2003@eventfoto.com>, as the DEADLINE for Tourney Subscription has been settled for SEPTMEBER 10th, 1200 GMT in order to get off the ground. You may also post a (commiting) request for participation under this thread or post to the TacOps mailing list in case you cannot access above email address (there have been ppl reporting they cannot), but in this case make sure you hear back from me to confirm your participation request. All this ***DOES NOT*** apply to the folks that have already been answering the call, as those gents will hear from me separately! Kind regards, Rattler
  15. For all the information you would want to have about TacOps Tourney 2003 check out the now fully operational website at TacOps Tourney Page (make sure to hit your browsers "Reload" button when accessing tourney pages as they are updated frequently). The newly designed page now contains: - Overview - Trophy (make sure to take a look at that beauty by Rikki Tikki!) - Gameplan - Rules Set (!) - All (!) Scenarios for the Tourney - Roster and Standings - Review of Prior Tourneys Comments greatly appreciated, Rattler
  16. For problems with reading .txt files: Of cause everybody can check out the scenario descriptions (with screenshots even) on the Scenario Description Page of the relevant scenario: - Simply click on the "Details" link for every scenario on the Scenario List Page Rattler
  17. And right you are: The correct address to mail to to participate in the tourney is tourney2003@eventfoto.com Rattler
  18. Dont recall if I have answered that already: Yes, there will be in Stage 2 (after Elimination round), though not freely (choice between different OOBs as a matter of planning), probably in 3 of the following scenarios "The Motherland", "Mad General", "TF Riki", "Semper Fi" (realizing that all those have been conceived by Rikki Tikki I think we should award him with a "Tourney Scenario Designer" Medal; seriously, those scenarios offer the best balance I have encountered so far and so are prefect for tourneys, PBM or converted for net-play; Good Job Rikki!). BTW, to get a feel for those scenarios check out TacOps Scenario HQ page at Battlefront - more than just scenarios there... I have always (from the first tourney 1999) tried to provide a fun environment where people learn to make full use of the engine in the version provided (currently v4). This time this includes engineering, cross database units - and netgaming...:-> I think this approach is sucessful, because I can already report two veteran players who went against the AI mainly (or PBM) have newly started practicing netgames and are euphoric from what I hear...:-> Last, with the sownloadable files for each scenario the thing has become so easy (preferences, units, sometimes setups, all there already) that you just have to start from the provided folder and can simply start playing. As a side-note: TacOps has become more and more "modular" during the last years, an approach which faciliates scenario (and tourney) design greatly: Interchangeable game files, map dat files, exported OOBs, Overlays and name files as well as the replay feature are a great support for such activities and make gaming a lot less preparation heavy. One BIG wish remains to make the modular approach truly work: EXPORTABLE OOBS WITH ORDERS AND SOPS!!! :-> I dont think thats really necessary, as people can take up their netgames whenever they want again. IMO the greatest advantage of v4 and its netgameing and replays is that this time we will really have the possibility to have spectators... Rattler
  19. forgot to add: If you want to participate, please send a mail to: tourney 2003@eventfoto.com TIA Rattler
  20. Thats correct: So far 31 ppl have uttered interest in participating in the TacOps Tourney 2003 (you can check the actual number updated daily on http://eventfoto.com/privat/mil/tourney2003/main.html ). Thats the highest number we had ever at this stage, I hope all "interested" will later commit...:-> With 32 players, btw, we would have the ideal elimination roster... Rattler
  21. Like every year also this tourney will have one or more referee(s), w/o its not going to get underway. Wolfgang, wo did the last tourney (although his intervention was not really needed so far) and who was part of the referee junta in 1999 will (for the first time!) play this year himself so he is out of a job...:-> Now, again we need ppl volunteering to judge as referee in yet as of now unpredicatable situations or conflicts that might arise from the rules (I am trying my best to make them redundant and un-ambigous, but things happen...). Requirements: - not playing in the tourney 2003 (obviously) - a fairly good knowledge of the TacOps engine - (basic) experience in netgaming and PBM - diplomatic approach to conflicts will be of help :-> Any takers please mail to tourney2003@eventfoto.com Rattler
  22. Corrected version 1.2 for Elimination Round Scenario 2 has been uploaded, see http://eventfoto.com/privat/mil/tourney2003/scenarios.html AUG 28th, 1533 GMT Rattler
  23. As we found out that airstrikes can blow the bridge and give a score dilemma we will go back to map 3 for this one where no bridge marker is to be blown up...:-> Due to the reworking necessary for the involved scenario files I have momentarily disabled download of this scenario until version 1.2 is up. Everybody who has downloaded v 1.1 trash the files and wait for the new version 1.2 Sorry for any inconvinience caused, Rattler
  24. While TT2003 Main Page remains unchaged at the moment, the tourney 2003 scenario page 2003 Scenario List is ready again for those who like to do some training or sandboxing, you can either go to the details pages from there or download the files for either Mac or PC (tourney will be played from saved game files). I have the 3rd scenario for the elimination round uploaded, a SOF TF Night Raid into Honduras, this promises to be a real killer...:-> We had a lot of fun during preparation of this one, great sandboxing events and you might want to check it out for out-of-tourney 2p-netgames or PBM two-leg games. I plan to turn this one into a CPX once the Elimination Round has finished (of cause with giving RED some more air to breathe...:->) Check out the description at SOF Night Raid page , you can dl all necessary files from there as well (incl an INTEL overlay for US with all RED positions and movement directions). Attn Wazza/Henk: A lot has changed, so best read the rules again...:-> Also, the corrected 2nd scenario is availiable again, check it out at Scenario 2 page , makes for some nice netgames or PBMs as well. Enjoy, Rattler
