  1. Scott Clinton>Try to re-read what I wrote: "Face it something of this nature is gruesome and DRAWS ATTENTION (BY WRITERS)WAY OUT OF PROPOTION TO ITS ACTUAL USAGE" (caps added)

And you seriously believe that if someone writes that this game has gruesome stuff in it that it will hurt sales? I guess the game Kingpin was a fluke, huh?

I've come to realize after reading several of your posts that you are an idiot. I will have no further discussions with you...

    Scott Clinton>The Grumbling Grognard

    Heh, right...

  2. Your first guess was correct Madmatt, Pea Ridge and Prairie Grove, both in Arkansas.

Madmatt>Damn, you would ask a question on the West!

Well, seeing as how I am from and live in Arkansas... smile.gif

  3. Scott Clinton>Face it something of this nature is gruesome and draws attention (by writers) way out of proportion to its actual usage.

And burning alive in a house or armored vehicle is not? Personally, I would rather have my head run over by a 45 ton tank than to be burned alive. Face it, WAR by it's very nature is violent and gruesome and trying to hide that fact is a bigger dishonor to those who served than by actually depicting it...

  4. I'm re-reading Citizen Soldiers by Ambrose and Montgomery used words similar, but not exactly the same as Your Obedient Servant. I have seen this quote somewhere though, perhaps the Civil War? If it's from WWI, NO idea whatsoever.

    Douglas MacArthur is correct...

  5. Please do not display dead vehicles on the battlefield. Machines everywhere will be offended by this sensless display of wanton violence... (tongue in cheek)

  6. John Maragoudakis> This topic has been discussed to death. If you haven't made a search on the topic, let me take you by the hand:

No need to take me by the hand. Perhaps if the search function would return the information in a fashion just a bit easier to find, more people would use it. Sorry for even bringing the f***ing subject up. Out...

  7. Darstand> It is cheesy, lame, and gamey

Hahaha, sounds like something my 11-year-old would say. smile.gif

Harold Jones> I have yet to hear a convincing reason to have dead bodies.

I have yet to hear a convincing reason why not to have some indication of where I've lost troops, especially for campaigns. I would think that Graves Registration would come in after a battle and mark locations in some fashion. Everyone is correct in that it has no gameplay value showing where you have lost troops, it is just something that I would like to see, and I suspect would not be too difficult to implement. You can take a screenshot and say, "This is where my infantry charged the enemy head on in a last ditch effort to uproot him." Of course, at the moment all you would have is a clear, green field with maybe a few craters...

  8. Now, I realize that BTS has already made a statement as to adding dead bodies and the hit to the frame rate that they would cause if done in 3D, but could we at least have SOMETHING to show that our troops died in a particular area? How about a 2D, bilboarded cross or tombstone? Not for each individual soldier mind you, just to show that one or more troops have died in a certain grid. I love the demo and pre-ordered about a month ago, so whether or not BTS decides to add something like this or not will not change my view of the game. Just a suggestion...

  9. I like how the different objects in the game catch on fire, except when it's MY troops in the middle of it. Playing Last Defense last night, I had the remains of 2 squads and HQ in the small house that sits by itself on the right (from American perspective). The Tiger opened up with HE and the house burst into flames. Guess my guys didn't like this much and bailed out only to be mowed down by MG42 fire. Was pretty cool though... smile.gif

  10. BTS:

Thanks for the reply. It seems to be a random thing as I tried again last night and it worked just fine. When I originally locked up, I had not moved any of the units from the original setup locations. When I did it last night, I had moved one of the 88's in Riesberg to a different location and it aborted just fine...

  11. Some will probably laugh, but what I would like to see added to the game is computer control for both sides. I would like to set both players to computer control and watch how the TacAI plays it out from both sides. It shouldn't be too hard to implement I would think. This would probably help scenario designers in testing their scens without actually having to play the scenario...
