Heh, at least it's only for 24 hours. My regular ISP (where I originally had them) has a 500mb/month limit. That really sucks!

    Hey,

Just finished listening to the 1.4 sounds. I really like the new stuff, except the 1.3 MG42 was waaayyyyy better. The 1.4 sounds, hmmm, wrong. Anyway, just my opinion. I'm keeping the 1.3 MG42, but switching the rest for the newer versions.

The only reason I changed them was so that the sounds kinda sounded the same, if you know what I mean. Anyways, that is why I left v1.3 on Freedrive, in case someone liked the 'real' sounds better...

Help! I'm playing version 1.05 of CM on a Macintosh and I'm wondering how to install sound mods like yours. I have Stuffit Expander 5.5 which can handle .sit files, so I can download PC mods and then expand them back to their original .WAV files. What do I do with these .WAV files once I've got them (any clues...)? I appreciate any help or advice you can provide. Thanks!

Gunslinger, is this a glitch, or is it just my display? Playing a map with a Tiger on it, and if I move my POV aprox 375m away from the tiger, it gets a big red rectangle under it. Any ideas?

Just fixed this in my game. Open 3391.bmp in Paint Shop Pro (or a similar graphics editor). Notice the red at the bottom of the graphic? Change it to the purple transparancy color (R:255, G:0, B:255), you will now not see the red rectangle under your tigers...

  5. Ok, well I have updated my sound mod again. Unfortunately, my 500mb/month data transfer limit on my personal webspace has been exceeded. I have sent the file to CMHQ and if any of you other webpage owners would like to post it, please send mail to: ncrawler@swbell.net and I will email it to you. This also applies to anyone else that wants it and can handle a 4.6mb attachment.

When you will consider them all finished, don't forget to make the final pack! biggrin.gif

Well, I'm still messing around with them a bit. Working on a new BAR sound at the moment. I'll probably consider it semi-finished when I finish the BAR, but will probably add new stuff as I come across it...

While i chritisized your sound mod and havent d/l any of your updates i did forget to tell you that i loved your sniper sound and am currently using it....

That's OK, criticism doesn't bother me. It's not like I'm out to make money off of them or anything. Glad you liked one of the sounds at least...

  8. Sorry for all of the continuing updates to my sound mod, but for those interested, I have updated it yet again. It can be found at:

    NCrawlers Sound Mod

I added some trailing echo to the new rifle sounds and they sound 100% better. I will probably do 1 or 2 more updates before I call it quits and continue with my work on other projects. At the moment I am testing a new BAR sound that I added. I will probably wait until I am completely finished with the mod and then send it to MadMatt for the CMHQ site since my personal webspace is only 3MB and this update takes up all my space. Let me know what you like/dislike about these sounds...

Do you remember the filename of the MG44? I will do some comparisons. I was at a wargaming convention and I noticed some CDs for sale with authentic sounds of aircraft engines and I believe weapons. I will have to check into this for mod usage. The more realistic, the better!

    00000440.wav - 00000442.wav = MG42 LMG/HMG

    00000445.wav - 00000446.wav = Squad MG42

BTS's MG42 sound was created by them after hearing an actual weapon firing, IIRC.

MadMatts' sounds were taken from SPR.

My sounds were taken from a video of an actual MG42 firing.

They all sound good. You just need to choose which you like best...

Those are nice NCrawler but I have one suggestion.

You should try and match the length of the sound to match up with the animation and tracers of the in game graphic.

I spent a great deal of time with my Hi-Action sounds trying to get the duration to sync up with the amount of tracers. Check out the 20mm for instance as IIRC I got that one just about dead on.

It just looks weird to see the little guns recoliing and tracers pouring out when the sound has already played.

Just an observation but the quality is very good.

These were quickly thrown together last night. I am in the process of syncing them now. They will be perfect in a day or so...

  11. I have a new sound mod available. It contains replacement sound for the Heavy tank movement, Sniper rifle, MG42 (actual live fire), MP40 SMG (actual) and Hatch closing. If you would like to check it out, right click on the link below and choose 'Save As'. It is 2.1MB.

Ncrawler's Sound Mod <---- No longer available. v1.1 will be ready shortly...

Correct. He was a good choice for the role also, what with the scar on his face and all. You win an all expense paid vacation to Australia, where you get to meet and be entertained by none other than Jochen Peiper...
