A POSITIVE MESSAGE: Remember, when you get a credit card you have the ability to dispute any charges on it, and unless there's a very big reason why the bank shouldn't refund you, they bassically will. If I recall correctly. I know when I got my credit card I checked that part of the fine print. That way, if someone gets hold of your credit card number, racks up all sorts of bills, you can go to the bank and say "oy, I didn't pay for this, receive goods, etc" and they have to refund you I think, and of course, investigate those who billed the card. So, i'd feel pretty safe. Also remember there are soooo many transactions, more than a few billion $ worth a year, the chance of getting your card number grabbed and then abused is so tiny, you're probably more likely to get mugged and your cash card and pin nicked. there's some positive thinking for ya! Have finally found stuff at checkaprice.com for UK stuff, and found a "GeForce 256 32Mb AGP" by ABIT for £131 inc. VAT. Alternately a "AGP-V3800 TVR Deluxe - TNT2, AGP 4x, 32Mb, TVout, 3D glasses" £170 inc. VAT, by ASUS I'm a touch lost with all the different brands and stuff. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to find good stuff to buy in England. Well scan.co.uk seem to have good prices if i decided to upgrage my chip as well as my ram, (which will definately go to 128mb), but finding a good vid card dealer is a bit tricky. I'm new here and they don't make it easy to spend money with 'em. The GeForce sounds good really, I don't see why I shouldn't buy it!!! :> Especially since if i can upgrade my MB with a bios upgrade to take a 800mhz then it would be worthwhile eh. (mb runs at 100mhz too so it's ok). PeterNZ

WELL! I have more than £1000 to play with. So if i can upgrade I will, and as i said, having the ability to upgrade later on and keep the 3d card is important. My voodoo was first bought for a 166, and was way better than my pc, but lasted me these 3 or 4 years because I bought ahead, know what i mean? And i think i'll get ISDN =) PeterNZ

Hi there! thanks for all the considered replies. Well the PC does acccept quicker chips, and I'm looking for.. legacy? The option of upgrading further in the past. So i could get a super vid card, and then later on, or in a few months, upgrade the mb and chip. It's always that way with my PC So i'm looking at the G-Force 1 ? Yeah, i'm looking for super-everything And i should probably try and work out how far i can upgrade my pc. O and also, I'm thinking of getting ISDN here in London, any better/cheaper options? Noone seems to offer cable here, and i'm loathe to go back to modem access at 5.6k PeterNZ

hi there all i'm happily ensconsed up in Willesden Green, London now, with a flash new job and a £3000 sign on bonus! So i'm getting home isdn via BT (ok is there anything better out there? cable? anything? I don't think so, so i will get it). also, i'm upgrading, another couple of 32mb ram chips and a new vid card. At the moment I have an ATI rage 1 and a voodoo 1. I WANT SOMETHING BETTER! I have a p400, and i want CM to explode across the screen, Vampire to have that bite, and eventually NeverWinterNights to engrose me, (ok enough enough). so HELP! Ideas for good cards and where to buy them at a good price? I suck at online shopping, but willing ot learn how to find a good deal etc. someone buzz me PeterNZ

ooo puuhhleeeaseee.. Flower power people demonstrating against best, (I assume from the english in the post, that there is supposed to be some quality statement here) free country in the world? If people are "anti-american", whatever that might exactly mean, they are generally so for a reason. Of course, i'm not justifying such feelings, nor do i necesarily feel they are correct or not arrogant to think so, but i can certainly UNDERSTAND why people might be that way. Example: In south american, (Argentina), which i have visited recently, I was told 'make sure they know you're a New Zealander, because they hate Americans' .. well i didn't talk to Argentinians about this, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's true. And why not? Argentina saw US intervention topple several democratically elected governments in the region, and I can't recall exactly, but the US might have supported the various dictators Argentina has experienced to some degree. Can you blame them then? Of course, it is stupid to then dislike all Americans, but it is -understandable-. In Europe, Americans it seems are often 'hated' everywhere, not just Germany. Generally they are considered to be stupid and fat, (this is what everyone else thinks, no reflection on people here or what i might think!). My sister delights in regailing me of various stupid American tourists she encountered, (eg. one lady in the vatican talking to her friend, "is this where the pope lives?"). In fact, on my first day being a tourist I saw this kinda thing first hand when i was in Westminster Abbey and some American tourists ignored the 'no talking' signs next to a tomb, and then later on proceeded to -climb- onto something in the middle of the Abbey to get a better view at something, ("this ain't a freak'n jungle gym!"). Anyway, it's a fact of life, American's have a bad reputation overseas. I don't care if they won the war, invented democracy, (not), are the freest state in the universe, (try and get elected with less than $5m) etc etc etc etc etc, that's the way it is! If American's don't like it, well it's a bit unfortunate really! O, if you're traveling, try not to wear white sneakers, (especially if they match with your partner), baseball caps, (past your 20s) and so on.. just marks you out as an American hehe I've probably offended lots of people here, o well. Hi there, how's it going everyone? Seems i can't access PeterNZ any more so here i am with a new nickname, exciting huh? Well i've been here a little over a week. Haven't gone to the war history museum yet, will do when i feel a bit more wealthy Anyway, having a lot of fun, and might even have a job lined up as a data analyst/researcher. good pay it seems too.
