  1. Hi Jonny

You'll need to buy the original Global Conflict game, and then it's up to you which/how many of the expansions you buy.

Assault on Democracy does give you the bigger map, and can as you say be bought as a bundle with Assault on Communism, while Gold gives you an improved version of the game using the original map, so the choice is yours! :)

  2. Hi Sanderz

Hungary and Romania will join the Axis providing France has surrendered, Italy has joined the Axis and Spain retains a pro-Axis setting but remains neutral.

While diplomacy might speed up gaining their entrance into the conflict, whether it's a worthwhile use of MPPs is a different matter. I'm personally doubtful given the other requirements for expenditure.

  3. Hi Philippe

The easiest way to work out the deployments for those in Breakthrough's Deployment Phase would be to make a list of the units, find their starting positions in SC WWI, and then you'll know where to place them for a historical start in Breakthrough.

Caporetto is not planned as an official release, but if anyone wants to make a mod of that campaign and load it to the Repository then it looks like it would have some players here. I'd certainly take a look at one too. :)

  4. Hi

Great to see you're enjoying our WWI game, and you could effectively turn off National Morale by increasing each Major's National Morale starting values in the Editor.

If you open the Editor and then the relevant campaign, go to Campaign -> Edit Country Data. Then increase the NM values to the value you desire.

However, this would have side effects on game play because things like the Russian Revolution are triggered by falls in NM, so depending on what result you want to achieve you may want to increase some Major's NM values more than others.

Once you've made your changes, hit File -> Save As, as you'll need to give your modified campaign a new name as the default campaigns are protected.

  5. Hi Ulver

I've made a note of the issue you highlighted in case we do another patch.

I decided not to give Russia any territory when the Ottomans collapseas it risked getting overly complicated.

For instance, if Russia gains some territory, but then collapses herself a few turns later, what happens to the territory previously gained?

While it's possible to add in more layers of scripts to cover this, with the Ottomans out of the war it felt to me that the Middle East and Caucasus would become a sideshow, an area that wouldn't be fought in again, and the Russians would have struggled to exploit it economically, so I left it out.

Now, trade through the Dardanelles is a different matter, and Russia should start receiving MPPs again if the Ottoman Empire pulls out of the war.

The thought of it boosting Russian National Morale too is an interesting one, so I'll put it on my list of things to consider. Thanks! :)

  6. Hi

HvS has started a new After Action Report using our latest patch 1.05 for WWI Breakthrough!

It's over on the si-games forum, and this one is a Multiplayer one against another player.

If you don't understand German it's still possible to follow the action as there will be multiple images uploaded, so check back to see how the war progresses!

  7. Hi

Japan's MPPs early in the war need to be spent both preparing for war with the UK and USA, and also in fighting China, so while they are good, they do need to be used wisely because income drops once the Oil Embargo is enforced, and won't rise again until Japan has conquered lots of places in the Pacific and South East Asia.

The Oil Wells in the corner map are turned on or off by in-game events, including the Oil Embargo. So at the moment you should see some that are at zero strength.

By establishing a rail connection with Norway and Sweden it will increase the value of those resources, but the value still has to be shipped to Germany so protection of the convoy routes remains important.

Roads negate the effect both terrain and weather would have on both movement and supplies, so over clear tiles in good weather they make no difference, but over hills, forests, mountains etc, or in muddy areas, they do effectively push the supplies further (i.e. as if the supplies were passing through clear terrain in good weather).

Rail does not have the same effect on supplies, but connecting resources does, providing they are linked to a friendly Major's capital or Industrial or Primary Centre, increase the supply value and income from holding that resource. So in a way it does, but differently from how the roads work.

The penalties for declaring war will be the same, i.e. the USA will be annoyed whether or not Germany or Italy declare war. It's best to declare war with the country you want to seize Yugoslavia, and to ensure they take the country make sure it is one of their units that marches into the enemy's capital.

I hope I've covered everything but if not, or if any more questions arise please just fire away! :)

  8. Hi DarthFreddy

    Welcome to the forum! :)

    1. Yugoslavia won't necessarily join the Allies, but they might invest in diplomacy and therefore get it to join at a time that isn't ideal for you. So you can either invade it when it suits you, or leave a few screening forces and just head for Moscow.

    2. The oil embargo will severely reduce Japan's income, while the USA will be steadily mobilizing, so while you're suffering from the embargo, prepare for war and ideally to start your offensives before the USA actually enters the war. Otherwise they will be able to redeploy some units you could have caught by surprise, e.g. ships at Pearl Harbor.

I'm not sure what you meant by IC?

    3. Yes it does, so keep the HQs close to the front line, but watch out for enemy breakthroughs and air attacks on them.

    4. The convoy represents the shipment of resources to Germany, and will continue irrespective of the status of Finland, Sweden and the USSR. This offers the Allies an opportunity to interdict your shipping.

    5. The convoys can be set to either send a % or the full amount. I think it will generally be a % when the country supplying the convoy is a neutral, but without checking all the scripts I can't really say that this is 100% correct all of the time.

    6. Yes, you will be getting some income from them.

I don't know if you've seen the Manuals folder that comes with the game, but you may find it worth a look. It's great to hear you're enjoying playing! :)

  9. Hi

Yes, there will be two things to change, the first is the end date in the Editor, which you've already done.

The second is that in the Victory.txt file there will be some scripts set to fire when the original end date was reached, and they will need to be changed to reflect the new end date.

It'll be best to open the campaign in the Editor, then open the Victory scripts file via the Editor, make the changes, save the text file, and then run the Update function on the scripts before saving.

I hope that makes sense but if you have any difficulties just post here. :)

  10. Hi Lofty12

The maximum production numbers are designed to be proportionate to other countries, and also to the numbers of other unit types attainable, while also not being excessive so as to keep the game flowing nicely.

So while the USSR has a build limit of 5, the USA's is 6, Germany's 7 and the UK's 4.

Added together, even if the USA and UK deploy say half against Japan, Germany will not have a significant advantage in the European Theatre (all other things being equal) and in fact when the Allies have produced their maximum numbers, Germany will be at a disadvantage.

I hope that helps explain things.

  11. Hi Mark

Invest as much as possible in diplomacy, using the diplomacy of as many Majors as possible who can afford to do so.

This isn't guaranteed to succeed, but if it increases US mobilization then it will at the minimum increase the convoy income reaching the UK - at least when the Germans aren't sinking it all!

Try to also avoid any actions that might annoy the USA, such as attacking Holland.
