Schrullenhaft
You both have to make sure that you're using IP addresses that are "routable" and not a "private" IP address that is seen on your own home network. So if you are giving out an IP address in the form of "192.168.x.x", then you're giving out an IP address that is "private" and your opponent cannot see it. If you don't know how to check your router to find your external/routable IP address you can go to a site like http://www.whatsmyip.org/. You may need to make sure that CMBN is entered in your software firewall (Windows or whatever security program you may be running that has firewall functions). You can either enter in the executable name or possibly the Ports that the game uses, which is UDP and TCP Port 7023. You MIGHT need to do something similar on your router's firewall, often adjusting something called 'Port Forwarding' of those ports to your "private" IP address. This may not always be needed, but sometimes it is. Internet TCP/IP Mulitplayer is explained in the manual on page 58. One other thing to remember is that many people may have a high "download" speed, but most internet users have a fairly limited "upload" speed and that DOES affect CMBN.
