Rob Murray
I don't seem to be getting any fog graphics. The manual says to " enable Fog Table Emulation " in the Control Panel for Direct X &/or my video driver. Can anyone please tell me how I can find out where I should go & do.I went into Direct X and couldn't find the " Fog Table Emulation ". I'm getting rain & snow graphics fine & I've got the smoke on the fast compatible setting { looks much better }. Really appreciate the help.
Olle Petersson
First it's imperative to know what graphics processor you have. No GPUs from ATI support fog tables. Nvidia GPUs do. The others I don't know. Cheers Olle
Schrullenhaft
Olle's right. ATI video cards don't support fog-tables under DirectX. The 'enable fog-table' setting isn't present in all video card control panels (even the ones that support it). It's common to see it for the NVidia line and some others. To reach it go to Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel > Display control panel > Settings tab > Advanced... button > at this point it may vary, NVidia will have a tab with the name of the video card and others may list their advanced configuration tabs here (Direct3D or DirectX tabs for some brands) > Additional Properties button (NVidia) > Direct3D Settings tab (NVidia) > Enable Fog-table Emulation check box (NVidia). So we need to know what video card and possibly what Windows version you have in order to help you some more. You can find the 'name' of your video card in the Display control panel. Right above where you change the color depth on the Settings tab it will usually tell you the monitor and video card on your system.
Rob Murray
I'm using Windows ME. The graphics controller is a Dell M781s on Intel®82810 Graphics contoller. I'm going to Start>Settings>Contol Panel>Settings tab>Advanced and that's as far as I get. There doesn't seem to be any additional properties button to proceed. Would appreciate further suggestions. Thanks for the help.
Schrullenhaft
OK, your graphics chip is built into the 'northbridge' of the chipset, the Intel 810. As far as I'm aware the 810/815's don't support fog-tables properly. You can get the latest drivers from Intel (v. 6.6 dated 2002-02-20). Here's the info about Fog-table support for the 810/815 chipsets. Before you install these drivers make sure that you have (installed) DirectX 8.1. You can get it here from Microsoft (make sure to download the Windows 98/98SE/ME version).
