Semi-Automatic Rifle Test Mk II - Live Fire Exercise

Recommended Posts

Just my 2 Cents but, when adrenaline is pumping you squeeze the trigger very fast. No matter how experianced you are, scared is scared and so shooting extreamly accurately in a fire fight is very very hard.In my experiance greener troops do fire faster though, as the erge to fire indscriminatly at the AREA YOU THINK YOUR GETTING SHOT AT FROM. Also I have never fired a M1 but I carried a M14 EBR for quite some time, and I cannot shoot very rapidly accurately with it because of the recoil, and I am a big man 6ft 200Ibs.

again just my 2 cents guys after all its just a game. Thanks for listening to my rant

I actually enjoy these debates. :)

So anyways, just wanted to throw in that the M1 Carbine and M4/M16 are very similar in recoil and the ability to control the weapon. No, you dont have all the modern aiming tools (red dot, laser, ect.), but the ability to fire the weapon quickly in semi-auto and remain ontarget is unchanged by that technology.

M1 carbine, yes, but it uses a lighterweight round (.30 carbine):

comparable to the M4/M16 round (5.56x45mm NATO):

The M1 Garand uses the heavier 30.06 Springfield cartridge:

If you look at this recoil tables (and there are various different ones available), you see that the .223 remington (55) which is the equivalent of the 5.56x45mm NATO round and the .30 carbine develop about 3.2-3.5 lb-ft of recoil while the 30.06 Springfield generates about 20 lb-ft of recoil energy.
