Sgt AA
Is there anyone out there who's facing the same problem as I have. My system: Motherboard ASUS P4S8X Grafic ASUS Ti4600 Sound Audigy2 CPU P4 2533 RAM DIMM 512 OS W98SE Syncmaster 161T res. 1260x1024 When playing the game whith the onboard soundcard there is no problem. With Audigy2 the game starts just fine and playing the intro, and a few turns could work out just fine, but when coming to heavier sound effect, like artillery detonations, or in bigger scenarios the sound dissapears totally. Leaving the game and checking with DX9.0 there is no problem with Direct Sound. The game works fine at my other computers, a laptop and a desktop with Soundblaster Live5.1. When testing Onboard SC, I removed the Audigy2 and its components. When testing Audigy2 I formatted, disabled onboard sound in BIOS and made a new installation of OS and drivers. My other games facing no problems, so this is just related to CMBB. Please, any suggestions or help is more than welcome! Sgt AA
Thanks for your sugesstion. I checked the EAX-console but EAX wasn´t enabled. I also tock out CMSS 3D. But still no difference. The strange thing is that the demo works fine, but when trying the same scenario (Yelnia Stare) in the game it makes the sound dissapears. Copying the demos sound-files to CMBB makes the scenario funktion, but of course with funny sound (doubble speed). I´m I really the only one that having these problem with Audigy2? Greatful for any suggestions. [ May 26, 2003, 08:53 AM: Message edited by: Sgt AA ]

Not to discourage you but the SB Audigy 2 works fine for me. I had to get my speaker/digital/analogue combination set right, which was a little confusing, but if your other games are playing fine....I'm lost( shrug ) Wait a minute...are you using XP? When I first installed XP I clicked the compatability button to Win98 and the sound was messed up, after going back and unclicking all was fine. Hope I helped. Sgt AA
This is a bit of a *bump* I tried to install only the drivers and no other "utilitys" and then my computer and CMBB works perfect, not a single crash for over a year in any game. But now, after a total reinstallation (virus  ) the problem is back, both in CMBB & CMAK (installed only drivers for SC). Is there anything that I can have done wrong or missed in the installation process? No conflicts and DX 9.0 finds no problems. (After that sound has dissapeard in the game Direct Sound will not work in DX test, but Direct Music will.) Am I the only person who have had problem with SB Audigy 2? Any comments/help will be welcome! PS. OS is W98SE.
Bimmer
I've been running and Audigy 2 ZS for about a month now with no problems in CMAK (a few in IL2FB). I just updated the drivers to the latest available and most of the problems seem to be gone, though I'm not sure the sound quality is exactly as good as before, though this could be a settings issue.
Hpt. Lisse
Try reducing hardware sound acceleration when playing CM... back it off one notch at a time and re-test. Also, with Win98, check for IRQ conflicts.
eichenbaum
Every soundcard has its limits. You were talking about bigger scenarios; probably with lots of simultaneous sounds. CM can produce more sounds at once then any modern PCI soundcard could possible process. I'm using the Audigy2 on a PIV 3,2GHz - 1GB DDR RAM and with huge scenarios there are lots of sounds not heard. Try to rotate the camera in the direction of the sound-source and move it closer if you can't hear it. The Environment sound (SHIFT+S) is one extra channel in use; you could turn it off to free one extra. Sgt AA
Thanks you all for caring! You make me belive that there is hope for mankind after all. The sound crashes even in small scenarios and without any conflicts, but after deliting the driver with help from the SB installation CD and done a manually installation of the driver (right-click on "my computer" and so on) now everything works just perfect again. I might me a stange man, but when my computer don't works perfect, nothing else in the world matters. Doesn't leave the house and no time for anything else (it's just like being sick)! Best regards!
