I find that I save and end ofter a battle because I find setting up and the advance to contact the most mentally challenging. So on campaigns I have a look and reboot when not so tired. If I deploy and move out tired my pixel troops take casualties. Oh, yeah casualties are more likely late game when feeling I have it won.
