How do I make units hold fire until I want them to fire?

I am playing Ambush Tutorial. The unit closesed to the enemy start firing way to early for me although they are Hiding. I put them facing a wall to get as many of them away from spotting the enemy and that helped some.

Covered arc. They won't fire outside a covered arc if you give them one (unless they feel very threatened).

If you don't want to fire them anywhere, you can give them a 360 degree arc by using the shift key while using the command.

Use a cover arc, although units should not fire at all when they are hiding.

Hmm, I just tested it myself. It seems that the hide behaviour has either changed or I never knew how it worked.

Also remember that a cover arc is not fool proof as nervous might still open fire earlier.

And I hate it when in the section with the RPG a guy with a rifle will prematurely open up fire before the rocket is ready, when you break the covered arc by manually targeting a vehicle.
