boudi
Hello, I tried to use Fraps for taking video, but when I started it up Fraps refuses to see that SC is being played. No FPS counter, nothing is recorded when using the hotkey. Nothing. I tried with a ATI videocard computer and a NVIDIA videocard computer, samething. Any idee ?
Moon
IIRC Fraps captures only 3D rendered stuff.
boudi
No it is not. It works fine with Ageod's American civil war by exemple, or Victoria from Paradox Interactive, typically 2D.
Hubert Cater
Hi Boudi, I could be wrong but I believe that those games actually use a 3D engine to render a 2D looking game. Hubert
boudi
Hello Hubert, I'm sorry i think not. I'm not a computer programmer of course, but i know a little bit the Ageod and Paradox's video games, and for these two games it's a 2D engine. I know a little bit Pocus, the Ageod's developpement team manager, he lives at Lyon (France) , 45 miles from my home, i played few PBEM with him, Ageod's american civil war is developped with a Delphi 2D engine. Paradox Interactive had developped a 3D engine only with Europa Universalis III, not before. Another exemple : Fraps works fine with Gary Grigsby's World at war a world divided edited by Matrix Games. 2D engine too. But, for an opposite exemple, Fraps works fine too with Combat Mission From Barbarossa to Berlin (CMBB) (Battlefront.com) , 3D engine. Looks my Youtube webpage : http://www.youtube.com/user/boudi001?feature=mhum I'm playing 3 PBEM with SC GC, one inclused with AAR. http://www.leqg.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=11169 It would be better, if i could use Youtube for a video AAR , i bought a home studio software, but unfortunatly the first step, using fraps, don't works. it would be a little free advertissment for the game too. I read on the Fraps website this : "Fraps is a universal Windows application that can be used with games using DirectX or OpenGL graphic technology." DirectX or OpenGL could be the problem ?
Hubert Cater
Fair enough Boudi I didn't really know for sure and was just making educated guesses based on Martin's feedback... not sure why it doesn't work with Fraps then but the game does use DirectX so it should not be a problem. Have you tried toggling the Full Screen/Windowed mode to see if it helps? Hubert
boudi
Hi Hubert, Unfortunatly, there is no effect in windowed mod. I tried to turn off the "video acceleration" too, no effect. Thanks again for your help.
