Tree rendering

I'm not really sure what is the best setting for rendering distance. You could possibly try 'Balanced' settings for both '3D Texture Quality' and '3D Model Quality'.

To be honest almost any map will probably have short rendering distances. The texture management is hardcoded into the game and most of the user configurable settings seem to have a minimal effect on the rendering distance.

I don't know if CMBN will fix this, but I believe it may do things a bit differently.

I certainly hope so. It is a pain not being able to see too far down the map. You end up in an area that you thought was open ground only to find your tanks in a forest arrgh;)
