Colonel J Lee Posted February 3, 2004 Share Posted February 3, 2004 Has anyone had much success assaulting a tank without special Anti-tank weapons? For example, an opponent of mine recently surrounded one of my Stug 42 Assault guns with at least two entire squads (20 men or so). They were throwing grenades and all but could not take it out. Locksley Posted February 4, 2004 Share Posted February 4, 2004 Hi With the Allies AFAIK I have never been able to take out a tank with just infantry. Are you sure there wasn't a rifle genade or a demo pack chucked in, because I've had that happen and hardly noticed it, because they were so close to the tank. All infantry squads and HQs have hand grenades, which can be used which can be used for close assault against a tank. Hand grenades work best against open-toped vehicles, but can also be used effectivly against buttoned up tanks. This simulates the occational hero climbing on, or right up to, an enamy tank and placeing the grenade in a vulnerable spot." CMBO manual, page 82 This passage suggests that while possible, its not bloody likely. Howard R Posted February 6, 2004 Share Posted February 6, 2004 I got a Marder to surrender once. I killed a Stug, but that was in very dense urban terrain Got a Panther with 105 Arty once!
