jhmorneau
Hi, I use to run into a serious problem when playing online with an Italian player. He sets up, give me his IP. I connect, we start the game and inevitably after a few minutes, we get a synchronisation message. Game stops, the resumes, then stops again and it never resumes. My opponent says it could be a firewall or router problem and asks if I opened port 7023. I'm puzzled because I thought that if the port was not open, we could not even start the game. BTW I'm using Windows 7, 64bits. Thank you for your help, Best regards from a long time supporter, JHM PS : does Hamachi bypass this port 7023 hurdle ?
Schrullenhaft
Correct, if TCP Port 7023 is not open, then you would not be able to make an initial connection to start playing. Hamachi is a VPN (Virtual Private Network) software program geared towards gaming. I don't use it, so I'm not familiar with its settings and advantages. I don't know if it would help in this situation or not. One other thing to do is to temporarily disable your security software to see if that helps (not very desirable, but a possibility). Once the file sizes of the data going back and forth increase it may cause problems. However another likely answer is that the connection between the both of you has very high latencies which MIGHT be causing the synchronization problems.
