CM:N background sounds request

This is something that i very much appreciated in CMx1: the "background" sounds were a separate track from the game sounds. I downloaded the CM:A demo (to learn the new CMx2 interface; holding out for CM:N to break out the credit card!) and it seems the sounds are all one track, either on or off. I find the BG sounds to be a bit monotonous and distracting (the low frequency muffled background explosions from my subwoofer actually kind of give me a headache). Any chance that we'll be able to turn off the BG sounds in CM:N? Or any way to hack the game files and kill the background sound?

I want positional ambient sounds ala TOW. Water running, birds singing when close to trees, and dogs barking.

Took me a couple reads to figure out what you were saying...now I have it. Yeah, you can mod the background to silence. There may be a mod already.

Not only can you use a silent background track, but there are other background mods as well, including (I believe) a couple with no guns or distant artillery.

Thanks guys. I get it now! I can just replace the BG track or delete it entirely.
