City Scenarios

When I try to play the 'Walk in Paris' or 'Aachen' scenarios the game crashes on the first move this is after I have set up and planned my moves and scrolled all around the screen.

I have played both scenarios before with no problems and have not recently updated my system...PLEASE HELP

I have not installed anything else after CMBO, my graphics card is a VOODOO 3. I have downloaded lots of graphics mods, my system is a PC.

I thought about the mods and uninstalled CMBO and reinstalled it but to no avail. The game runs fine on village games including HUGE maps.

When CM "crashes" what exactly happens ? Are you dropped out of CM to the desktop, does the screen freeze or is there some sort of corruption on the screen and then a freeze ? Does the crash occur when you hit the GO button or before ?

Do you have high resolution building mods installed ? I'd suggest designing your own test scenario with several 'large two story stone' buildings and see if your crash occurs when you attempt to play it. I'm guessing that large numbers of a certain texture may be causing the problem. You may also want to try deleting your CM Prefs file and selecting a lower resolution than you are currently to see if this makes a difference.

What Voodoo3 driver version are you using ?

The battle movie plays for approximatley 5 seconds and then I get a screen full of purple and white lines and the computer locks up, CTRL ALT & DEL don't work I have to reset the computer myself.

I have not updated anything on the system since I got CMBO.

It was originally running without error but for some reason now misbehaves.

What resolution are you running CM at ? I'd suggest 1024x768 or preferably less. There were some texture problems with the Voodoo drivers and that is what you seem to be running into at the moment. You may also want to take it easy on mods, especially high-res grass and terrain mods (AFVs usually aren't a problem). If you have the disk space you may want to experiment with a clean installation in a separate directory and see what kind of problems you get with that.
