Sequoia
I wanted to make a minimal background sound mod for night similar to what Madmatt had done for day. I just took a cricket sound from the net and used it. However when it plays in game the speed of the cricket chirps is so fast it sounds almost constant. Is there a secret to make it play at the same speed it does out of game? Thanks
Ryujin
Make sure the clip rate is at 44100 Hz, that's what CMSF seems to play back sound at. Or do you have a really short clip of sound? The normal background clip is almost 2 minutes I think, it constantly loops the clip, so a short one will sound odd.
Sequoia
Thanks for the hint. I did have it extended to 2 minutes already thinking that might be it. I tried modifying the file to play at 44100 hz but then there was almost no sound. I think this beyond my minimal sound engineering skills.
Ryujin
I can whip up a quick night cricket mod for you. It'd be no trouble at all.
Sequoia
Thanks very much. That would be greatly appreciated. I just wanted the cricket sound with no background explosions etc. There's lots of cricket clips available on the web. Again thanks.
Ryujin
Yup, should be simple enough, I'll set it up when I get back tonight.
Ryujin
Here you go, http://www.filefront.com/16625105/background%20night%20combat.wav Seems ok, though it does feel a tad faster ingame. Should match the stock background sound file format exactly, so I don't know if you just have me hearing it now .
