Colonel J Lee
I may be a little slow but can someone explain the usefulness of this command. I mean, if a unit without fire orders will fire selectively at units without being told do so based on target-hit probability, threat level, etc., what does the "next target" order do? And how is it used; do you issue a "next target" order to several targets, one after the other, in succession (in the same orders phase)? I'm trying to see the usefulness of this order.
Michael Emrys
I use it to see which enemy units my unit could potentially fire at. It's a good way to make sure I'm not overlooking anything. A lot of times though after I've run through the list I end up not giving any fire order at all for that turn. Michael
Sanok
Target Next is essentially a way to scroll through which enemy units you could target with that unit. It also saves time. You don't need to check the LOS for every unit.
klapton
If you press Target Next, the unit will aim at the best target, in terms of firepower and coverage. If you press again, the unit will aim at the second best, and so on.
Colonel J Lee
Sorry guys. I got tunnel vision trying to figure out the order's usefulness by just reading the manual's description, but had NEVER TRIED IT!! After doing so, it was readily apparent that it helps you to see what you can fire at in order of priority relative to LOS, cover, and target-hit probability considerations. It's actually more of a "tool" than an order, but anyway.......THANKS!
