How do you range attack with your artillery?

I'm not quite sure what the question is. Do you mean "how do you attack from a distance with artillery?" (it does that automatically), or do you mean "what do artillery ranges of e.g. '30' or '50' mean?" The ranges are measured in pixels, which is the same unit of measurement used by movement ranges and movement rates. There isn't a 1 pixel = X miles translation anywhere in the game.

Yes, if an artillery has orders to attack a tank, it will move to within range, and then attack the tank.

That's cool. Then I must have done something wrong. I right clicked the tank with the artillery selected and the arty proceeded to move up to the tank and get slaughtered. Maybe I didn't quite click on the tank but near it. I'll pay more attention next time.
