Joe Shaw
From the most recent Developer Diary ... Unfortunately, we cannot offer any promises regarding the release date of a mission editor just yet ... YET ... so there's hope for one ... pleasepleaseplease let there be an editor at some point. Destraex
i agree, without an editor replayability may not be worth the money. Especially from a multiplayer standpoint.
InFireBaptize
$45.00 and no mission editor? i guess i will have to wait then! don't get me wrong, the game looks and play nice but i look for three important things when making a purchase: 1) Mission Editor 2) Dedicated server support 3) Openness for modding. respect. BeauBrummie
I absolutley agree. For this game to have any longevity it needs a mission editor and to be open and moddable (if this a real word ;-). Once the initial flush of enjoyment with the missions or episodes is over folk will want to create their own stuff.
tankski
And a decent Quick Mission Generator would be much appreciated. Something like "Destroyer Command" had.
BeauBrummie
You're quite right. The problem is I think is the question of identity and expectation. Now I've no experience of naval games/sims, but from what I've been reading here, there is a desire for something with the flexibility of a naval version of a Combat Flight Sim. I've only got the free demo, and am still getting used to the game play, but I have read a lot of books about British Coastal forces. Their operations are really more suited to Combat Flight Sim scenario as they operated in small numbers, rarely mixing with other naval units. In larger 'tactical' operations they often ended up being cannon fodder against larger ships.
Bruceov2
Patience everybody. This is potentially the best navel sim out there, the least buggy, the best graphics.
Moon
Akella has made a statement about the mission editor recently in an interview in french magazine Cyberstratege. I don't think it's posted yet so I am not at a liberty to quote, but in short: they are working on it.
Hobo67
Hello, in my Opinion, Opening for Modding and an Editor could made a game longer interesting for the Community. As an example Silent Hunter 3 started with a lot of bugs, but with a Modding-Community over the years, the game is now for a lot of users more attractive than SH4. Longer Selling Times made a Game more profitable....with low level costs through modders. The Publisher should think about... Naval Games are very scarce ,so give PT-BOATS a Chance as a counterpart to the Silent Hunter Games. Best Regards Hobo67 BTW: My English is a little, little, bit older and....very rusty. Please excuse me.
t1metraveller
This game is hugely moddable right out of the box, like Pacific Storm was. I hope Akella does produce their mission editor for all to use. It would be a shame not to. The editor I wrote for PS was nearly a year in the making. It is not a trivial task to write one. timetraveller
