HDAP oddity v1.21

Gents,

First, thanks for the patch. The best visible feature is the dust kicked up by incoming. Thanks for the work.

Onto the oddity: I opened "UK The 2nd Eleven" (sic?) and noted an oddity. One, and only one, of the FV432's had an enormous loadout of 40mm HDAP ammo. It had 320 rounds. No vehicle had a grenade launcher. No UK unit had a grenade launcher. The FV432 was a 7.62mm armed variant. Additionally, the section being transported inside was able to grab ALL 320 rounds. That seems, um, like a lot. I know the game limits loadouts based on carrying ability. But 320 rounds seems a bit over the top. Finally, even though the section grabbed all 320 rounds, their ammo bar did NOT change. Pictures....

This shows the FV432 at setup. Note the ammo box which clearly shows 320 rounds of HDAP.

Next, let's look at the section and see what options they have under ACQUIRE:

Finally, let's look at the same section after grabbing ALL the HDAP.

This is minor, but may indicate something more insidious. I have NOT taken the time to see if that section acts as if it has 320 HDAP rounds.

Definitely there have been some changes in the TO&E. It seems that now all the seven APCs of the Mech Fire Support Sections within every British Coy carry a max. amount of 320 x 40mm HEDP... But, all these are 40x53mm HEDP rounds: to be used by three Heckler & Koch GMG Detachments that might not appear in this scenario (exactly, 10x32-round extra belts in every vehicle).

The UGL (Under-slung Grenade Launcher) used in conjunction with the L85A2 rifle uses the less powerful 40x46mm HEDP round.

And the cartridges are not interchangeable. That's why they acquired them but they couldn't use them (so it doesn't appear in the ammo bar, although they are carrying all of those grenades! :eek:). By the way...

The 40x53mm M430/M430A1 HEDP grenades weight 340g. while the 40x46mm M433 HEDP grenades weight 230g.

Some would be carrying one belt (the lucky ones): aprox. 11 kg. And two pixeltruppen carrying two belts each (poor noobies): aprox. 22 kg.

It's the same of that old Russian ammo thingy... 7.62x39 or 7.62x54R??

Thank you for the excellent explanation. That all makes sense.

The obvious need is to expand the ammo description to something beyond the basic bore diameter. Perhaps in v1.22.

Perhaps the guys should not be offered the option to aquire those rounds in the first place?! Grey it out or somefink.

Or, what i would prefer, that units on the map are also allowed to drop or give ammo to friendly units. This would also help if you made a mistake and aquiered(sp?) the wrong ammo type or loadout. Ammobearers finally, now that would be cool.
