If I chose one of these the game starts but colours / graphics make it unreadable/ playable. Help please. Schrullenhaft Posted April 7, 2002 Share Posted April 7, 2002 It looks like you have an Intel 740 video chip running under Windows 98 (1st Ed) with DirectX 8.1 installed. There is a newer video driver for your card and you can get it here. In this listing is a video BIOS v. 2.39update (which you will probably want to apply) and the v. 4.0 driver (both of which are at the top of their respective columns). From your settings your resolutions should start at 800x600, but at a possibly higher refresh rate than what you have your desktop set to. You'll want to select a resolution that is legible on the screen (though you only see the resolution box and buttons). If any of these graphics looks distorted, that is how CMBO will appear. If you don't select fast enough (you'll typically have 3-5 seconds to select a resolution/refresh rate) then the next resolution and/or refresh rate will be brought up. Some of these selections may not appear correctly on your monitor (since your video card may be capable of refresh rates that your monitor isn't). To select another resolution (assuming you've selected the default location for the install) delete the file C:\PROGRAM FILES\CMBO\Combat Mission Bynd Ovr Prefs.
