What were they thinking!!!???

I have several beefs about this game. One of my main issues is that tech upgrades are sporadic at best. I've played this game where I've sat on Inf. Wpns. for 3 years! Nothing! And that's where every other nation on the planet has advanced two or three lvls of the same tech! I feel there should be a max time for any tech that is invested in. Yeah, sometimes when I invest in production of industry I get that immediately at the start of my next turn. Thanks for the gimme! I feel the game would be better if techs were "automatic". By that I mean when a tech has been invested in then the clock starts ticking. You may get it right away but you WILL get it in 12-18 months. That's where randomness will be effective.

Also, I'm sick to death of not being able to move a ground unit. Even the minor nations cannot move one space IN THERE OWN BORDERS if the weather isn't just right. What the heck is that about? I guess my Bulgarian unit is out of supply in it's own country! Yeah, sarcasm!

I don't know if this has happened to anyone else but Italy arbitrarily declares war on Greece. I know I didn't get that memo! If I am controlling this nations direction as well then why is Italy declaring war on nations without my approval? Because it was historic? If that's the case then why allow Sealion to happen. Yes, I have done Operation Sealion and it worked. Then Britain sent there government to Alexandria. Try touching that city when that happens! It pretty much insures that Britain will stay in the game. By the time Sealion was done I had all I could do to keep the Russians at bay. They declared war on me in this reality.

These are a few of my favorite things......to gripe about in Strategic Command 2. I like the concept. Even with these "bugs" I have won playing either side. Of course you can't mess with the difficulty settings or your asking for headaches. It reminds me of a game I haven't had out of the box in YEARS......Third Reich. Another great game by Avalon Hill. But let's face it, there are aspects of this game that just need to be reworked.

I find it only fair to point out a good point in the game as well since I have vented a bit. I like the advent of rough seas. Nice touch but why would it cause damage to my METAL ships? I understand the damage with a masted wooden vessel. Maybe the concept of rough seas would just reduce the max distance traveled. Possibly even effect naval combat. I don't know, just thinking out loud hear. Wow, that the only thing I can think about to applaud? Wow I must really be ticked at the developers. They turned an ok game into an ok game. Lateral move? They should've called it Strategic Command.....Again!

Guess you don't know about Halsey's Typhoon late in the war, which sunk several ships and damaged many others.

I posted a suggested revision to the tech algorithm here:

But for good or bad we still have the same old one. [in other words I agree with everything you said in your first paragraph]

Comic63,I agree with you on the first one in that after a certian amount of time you should get a tech.hit depending on the amount investef.Believe me thus has been brought up before, although we all do have the same chance.

Im not to sure the second one really matters to much and I think the low supply level is to represent the unpreparedness of the minor in question?

As far as Italy declaring war on Greece goes, you can just turn that off in the scripts.

I have also played Third Reich many times and other than the fact that armour cant exploit then for simplicity of play and fun then the SC series(imho)are GREAT games to play.
