John Kettler
For an incredible look at how NBA superstar Kobe Bryant does his job, see this and learn what's seldom or never seen and heard on game broadcasts. Spike's crew put a microphone on Kobe, had 30 cameras on him, providing numerous action angles never seen, was allowed inside the bench discussions, even into the sacrosanct locker room at half time--all during an important home game, with MVP up for grabs. Kobe did the narration right after scoring 61 points against the Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Not only did this doc blow me away, but it fundamentally altered my understanding of what happens on and off the court, not least because the typical NBA broadcast audience gets less than 1% of what's actually being said. Kobe, for example, talks almost constantly during the game, whether on or off the court, but all we generally catch is an occasional exhortation or outburst. Tremendous insights on the other team, tactics, game strategies, motivating his guys, setback recovery and much more. Superb! There's also a "making of" segment.
