John Kettler
Episode I stumbled across covers British operations near Basra by 2 Lancs, with considerable detail on the Javelin vs. IED team footage seen on YouTube, etc. This was a counter op after a local warlord's teams killed 5 men in a Warrior via a huge buried IED. Warriors with slat armor and some dedicated turretless APC is also visible. Looks a bit like the Acharzit, but the MG has two big armored glass blocks as a shield. Episode's supposed to cover U.S. but is really about the Brits vs. IEDs. Challenger 2 also figures. Regards, John Kettler
flamingknives
The British APC with the corrugated sides is almost certainly the latest incarnation of the FV432, now called the Bulldog. The Isreali look may be something to do with the Rafael ERA packs on the sides. IIRC, much of that footage belongs to Michael Yon. John Kettler
flamingknives, Appreciate the info! I don't recall seeing ERA, but whatever it was definitely had slat armor, extensive slat armor. People, The episode after the first was about courage under fire. There, I got my first look at the modern British pathfinders in action, in an unaccustomed role. Static defense against enormous numbers of Taliban, with only meager air support. Got to see the specialist Land Rovers used by the unit. Also shown were sappers building a series of Hesco checkpoints under fire in Iraq, an incredibly brave fascine laying exercise in an unarmored skip loader to allow armored columns to break into the Green Zone near Ramadi, Iraq, and an incident I can't quite recall involving an American in battle. Lots of good footage, material for sound tracks, tactical procedure, and of course, visuals. Regards, John Kettler
theFightingSeabee
A side note if interested: I HIGHLY recommend Ross Kemp's series on his tours with the British heros in Afghanistan. Exhilarating and heartbreaking. It shows a lot of equipment and tactics of the British forces. There are a lot of videos of his, but here's a good start: http://www.liveleak.com/browse?q=ross+kemp
John Kettler
the FightingSeabee, Having seen his chilling piece on Russian Nazis, I'll definitely make it a point to watch the series. Regards, John Kettler
flamingknives
Also look for Michael Yon, who has done a good number of pieces while embedded with British Troops.
