Holman
I searched but could not find, so here goes: I seem to recall some weeks ago reading that artillery smoke missions do not use up artillery ammo. Is that so? If so, does that mean that the player has unlimited use of smoke throughout a battle? I suspect the answer is no, but I can't find it. So, is smoke ammo infinite, or does it replace HE one-for-one, or is there some other ratio/consideration/worry I'm missing? Likewise, what about infantry smoke grenades? How many smoke salvos does a squad get? Do smoke orders "use up" regular grenades? All clarification appreciated!
Field Marshal Blücher
Artillery has a separate amount of smoke ammo; firing smoke ammo does not affect how much regular ammo your guns have. The reverse, oddly enough, is not true--if you use up a gun's regular ammo, you can no longer fire smoke even though you have smoke ammo remaining; as the gun goes to "EMPTY."
hcrof
It might just be me but I never feel like I have enough artillery smoke - I probably just use it too much Infantry usually don't carry more than one grenade per team in my experience but I mainly use infantry smoke with the Syrians so I'm not sure if US forces have more. Smoke is absolutely vital for me - I love the stuff! (Though waiting 15 minutes for a Syrian smoke mission can get a bit frustrating)
